It was a rather warm day yesterday and although we leave the a/c's on down stairs the cats most of the time prefer to stay upstairs in the bedrooms. We have fans (unplugged) in the windows so there is air circulation, but it still gets pretty warm. Anyway, when I got home I went about my normal routine of feeding and litterbox cleaning. I noticed one box had footprints in it, but nothing else. The other 2 were full so I didn't think much of it. A little while later I was up in the bedroom and discovered why the other box hadn't been used. Apparently, Rusty had been resting in it because that is where he was when I went back into the bedroom. Just as comfy as you please, cuddled in the box. I am guessing the cool "sand" must have felt good. Silly kitty. At least he picked a clean one! LOL!
