I *hate* flying. I'm scared that the plane will crash. The last time I flew i spent two weeks worrying about it. I was so freaked I was making myself sick :o

Anyways, Do you like flying?

I'm more worried about dying in a car crash. Flying doesn't scare me. I mean, I get the jitters a little bit when I'm getting ready to board, because there is that chance that something could happen, but, I kinda get them when I get in the car, too. I have flown over the Atlantic Ocean about twelve times, though, I got used to it. And, I actually can say, just like with most other things in life, as long as I'm with someone cool, I enjoy it.

No, no, NO.

I absolutely HATE flying. Always have. Ask anyone who knows me.. I dread having to go on a plane. I'll start to feel sick and if it's really bad, I'll actually start to have a panic attack and hyperventilate. :o

I LOVE IT !!!! Leave it to me to be an oddball. I love the feeling of flying. I hate take off and landing but I love everything else. I love to fly during the day most cause then I can see when we drop beneath the clouds or if there is no cloud cover and watch the amazing view. How everything looks so little. My favorite flying experience was when we were flying in over the italian alps going into Milan. My mom who is a very bad flyer ever watched out the window and was awe struck. It was sooooo beautiful.

In my ex line of work, I travelled all the time. I hated it more than loved it. I always felt claustrophobic stuck in a seat the entire time. Lousy food, stinky air, maybe even a stinker next to you. Boring. And I always had to wear business casual so I was never comfortable. Loved going to my destination but hated the time to get there. After 9/11 which affected my job, I haven't flown at all. I was always a little skivish anyway.

I've only flown twice, to and from Utah. The flight overall was fine, but incredibly boring. I hate doing the same thing for hours at a time.
The main thing that bothered me was the fact that Kiara was flying with me. She was completely fine, but I about died of worrying.

On the flight there, I had to have a middle seat and I hated it. I couldn't rest my head to the left, couldn't rest my head to the right.
Had to get up for the person to my left. Being by the window on the way home was much more enjoyable.

So, I guess it's sort of like a love/hate relationship. :p

It depends...Depends on the time of the flight, the duration of the flight, airline, etc. If the flight is short (a few hours), and during the day, I *love* it. I *love* taking off and looking outside. The world looks SO beautiful from up there. Flying over the clouds, seeing snow covered peaks from the sky, different cities.....its just so lovely. I love landing too. Long flights, however, make me sick. Planes make their economy class seats so uncomfortable for long flights. :( I often feel sick if I'm in the plane too long, and just need to SLEEP. I don't like night flights because they're tiring and boring. So......as you can see, it depends. ;) AND...I have to have window seat to enjoy a day-time flight. :p

I'm fine with the flying part.....just hate the airport part BEFORE flying.

The flying doesn't bother me, but I hate the hassle of it all, and it seems that I am always the one chosen to go through the extra security measures or my plane gets delayed. I hate lines and I hate waiting, which does not go well with flying these days. Thankfully, I don't have to do it often!!!!! :) But I am not afraid of flying. I figure my chances are as good or better in the air than they are in a car with all the crazies on the road.

I hate it because I can't stand being closed in with that many people for a long time. If the flight is under 2 hours I'm fine but after that I get strung out and feel like I'm going crazy.

I hate a bad, bumpy flight. To and from NYC in June was BUMPY. I was freaked nearly the whole way there. Back wasn't quite as bad.

The time before that was smooth the whole way to and from Cancun. That was a pleasant flight until the landing at DFW, which was scary as h*ll. People were screaming :(

That's true. One of the things they told me when I went for my pilots licenses was that plans are safer then cars or even riding a bike. Less deaths are caused by planes then any other forms of transportation. It just that when a plane does goes down you hear more about it then you would a car accidents, sense car accidents are more common place.

Oh and yes........I love to fly. Been flying sense I was a baby, more or less, so it's almost natural to me. But I do hate the airports waits etc.

I enjoy flying. I have only done it a few times but each time was enjoyable. I flew first class to Puerto Rico and back from Puerto Rico, that was fun. Very comfy up there. :D I'll be flying again in October and I am looking forward to it. I have never had any bad experiences thus far, hope I never do.

I've flown on two trips. Round trip both times. I never thought I would ever get on a plane but hubby is a veteran flyer and being with him helps. He explains everything. I can do it now but the bordom is what bothers me. Nothing to do but try to stay busy with reading or sleeping and I don't think I could sleep although I like to watch others sleep. That relaxes me the most.

Long drives motivated me to fly. Long days in the car can be worse than flying a few hours and you are there. It's like the dentist, you don't really want to go but your toothache is worse than not going. LOL

I get a bit claustrophobic and bored when up in the air, and I hate turbulance, but I LOVE takeoff and I like landing. Taking off down the runway is just the neatest feeling. I've only had one terrifying flight, thank goodness it was only an hour long. People were crying and praying. They shouldn't have taken off in such a terrible snow storm. I am never relaxed enough to sleep on a plane, even the red-eye flights, so I can't stand overnight flights. I don't mind flying at night when it's dark, but I can't stand flying overnight.

I love flying...its so fun and relaxing for me... Im always a bit nervous before the flight, of course, but I'd really like to fly more...

Like others said, I feel more worried travelling by car or
bus...especially during night, its awful... yesterday we came from holidays, and we got home at 11pm... we spent about 15 hours travelling in the car... I was sooo tired of traveling...

I like going places I haven't been, and flying is a way to accomplish that. And I love flying if I can see out of the window, especially if there aren't a LOT of clouds. I love watching the world from above in amazing detail, see the varied landscapes, snowscapes and oceans. I love seeing clouds from a different perspective - being next to a huge towering cumulous and seeing the different levels sculpted by wind, set against the deepest cerulean backdrop is just ineffable.

I guess if I were in a middle row, it would be less fun, but I can always read, or Paul brings our laptop and we watch our own DVDs that we bring with us ...

I do like flying!

I used to love to fly, my Dad lived in California until he passed away and I would go out to visit quite often. I loved flying the red-eyes so that I could sleep some and get there early in the day. I had a number of scary flights, but I still flew. I thought it was fun, I even enjoyed take-offs and landings. Then the last flight out for my Dad's funeral was a horrible one, everything that could go wrong did. Delayed flights, problems with the plane etc., etc. Plus I wasn't going for a pleasant visit so I guess I was on edge anyway. Then of course 9/11 happened and I haven't flown since. I suppose someday I will have to face that fear.

Love it - love it - love it!!!

I'm one of those sickos that will giggle with delight if there's turbulence, and I'm in awe of something so big and heavy managing to take off the ground! When the plane does it's lift off, my grin is from ear to ear!!! (I learnt how a plane flies in school... but it still makes me wonder, as most of the time my bloody microwave won't do what I want it to do... how can they make a plane fly???!!!)

Only thing I'm not too keen on is if there's a steep landing, as there's been occasions when my eardrum has ruptured... oh well!

Yes and No.

I uesd to absolutely HATE flying. We had a rather bad experience while flying from Vancouver to Dallas about 8 years ago, one of the planes engines broke down and caught fire and we had to have an emergency landing... I was terrified. After that I didn't fly for years, not until last year. Last year when we flew from Victoria to Edmonton I really enjoyed myself, except for landing which made me feel quite ill. So overall I'd say yes, I do enjoy flying.

I didn't vote on the poll because I neither love nor hate it. I hate traveling period, I'd rather stay at home. However if I do travel long distance I'd rather sit on a plane for 2 hours then drive for 15.

So I guess my answer is I prefer it.

That is what stopped me from pursuing China adoption. Just the thought of flying terrified me. I guess some have others go get the baby for them though. We just never had that option.

Now I'm 58 and hubby is 51 so we are probably too old for acceptance in the program. :(

YES!!!!! I *LOVE* it! I only get to go about every 3 months or so. I hate it when people ask you if you have slept on the plane, it's like, "What, and MISS the fight???? I PAID $$$ for this!" I have been flying UM since I was 7 at least 3 times a year, and have never ever been afraid of flying, what is there to be afraid of? I really want to get a flying lisence.

I use to hate flying, but everysince my hubby became a polit I have grown to love it.. I didn't understand how the plane worked & I think thats why I was scared.

However a few yrs back I had good reason to be scared. Our plane broke in mid flight. we had to turn around & go back to Halifax.. the polits insured us the plane wasn't broken to the point of falling out of the sky nor crashing, but all I had in my mind was the works "the plane is broken".

Oh & smaller planes r WAY better. I detest Jets still, too bumpy & I hate falling 50 feet all of a sudden, with everything rattling & the lights flashing, its not fun in my books.

Are small planes worse than big ones to fly in?

my mom always tells me that I am more likley to be in a car crash then a plane crash, all that did was make me afraid of flying AND driving lol I am terrified of flying though, even though I have flown a million times, the more I fly the more frightend I get....so much for facing your fears huh? lol

I've never liked flying.. I used to always get sick on the planes so I never looked forward to it. I hate sitting still for that long without being able to lay down (if I feel sick) so unless it's a short flight, I get antsy, claustrophobic, etc.

However, after the last flight I took, I REALLY don't like flying. I'd never heard this from anyone before, but DO NOT FLY WITH A MIGRAINE. I had to do a back to back flight a few months ago and it was horrible. I was bawling before we even left the ground because I could already feel the cabin pressure, I was sick the entire flight.. between flights I begged my parents (I've never begged so hard for anything in my life) to not make me get on that second plane. My doctor had to prescribe me perkaset, and even that wasn't enough to knock it back down onto a scale of 1-10. It was def. on my list of worst pain experiences I've ever had.

To be honest I now have a fear of flying, having flown to the United States and Australia when I was in my twenties, and having no fear or problems at all, I have only flown once since , on a flight within NZ, it was the worst twenty minutes of my life, and I was scared stiff the whole time, trying to put on a brave face for my then young son on his first flight, who seemed fine with it all., it was a smaller plane a friendship they were called in those days, but still a domestic flight, not a tiny plane by any means, but it was rocky and I hated it.:(

I don't think you are too old for the China program. China is one of those countries where at least one of the parents has to travel, though. Korea and Guatemala allow the babies to be escorted back to the US.

Michelle,

I love it too!! It gets me where I want to go and FAST! I figured if the plane is going to crash, I'm 30,000 feet in the air, there's not much I can do much about it anyway.

As far as the puddle jumpers are concerned, I HATE flying in those.

My biggest gripe about flying is sitting near young, screaming children!! Or someone who insists on talking to you! My best friend thought up a good solution to that. Bring your CD player and put the earphones on. Doesn't matter whether it's playing or not. At least it makes the "talkative" person THINK you're listening to music!

I have mixed feelings, but I voted "love it". The thing I really hate is the "take off"!! The plane is driving really hard on the runway then, and the engines make a terrible noise.... . But once I am "in the air", it is fine ! BUT..... I also hate the landing!! One time, the "bump" was really bad, the plane bumped up and down at least 5 times   : I almost died with fear!!

Oh I forgot to tell: my hubby always has 2 blue spots on his arm afterwards: that is were I "hold" him during the scary take-off.... :D

They are MUCH more turbulant and bumpy. I've riden in a 4 seater (a neighbor I had when I was a kid was a pilot and owned his own little puddle jumper) and it was the bumpiest thing I've ever been in. It was extremely bumpy. Then every year or two we flew from Detroit, MI to LA, California but our final destination is in Santa Barbara, so we take this small commuter plane from LA airport to Santa Barbara airport...for me it is terrifying, but I hate turbulence. Non-stop turbulence in those little planes.

I love it but my ears don't!

In fact, I got back from the BBQ at noon yesterday and couldn't hear right until 7 PM today.

I'm really not too happy with the hassle of getting to the airport, waiting in line, etc. But I love to be above the earth, moving fast toward a new place.

My dad built small planes so I got a lot of experience in small planes. I even like the ones with open cockpits. Really fun! :D

I love/hate flying. The takeoff I'm a little anxious but like, the landing same thing (mostly cuz flying is vacation time so I'm gettin ready for vacation).

I don't mind being in the air, I HATE turbulence. ugh

I DO hate the waits at airports. One day b/f and I waited forever (aka several hours) for our connecting flight since there was bad weather and the plane got hit by lightning so they had to go through a million point checkup. we were gonna get free pizza, that never showed up (or rather it DID, while we were boarding FINALLY, so we had it on the plane, cold, but FREE)

loved the staff too... www.flyi.com is great :)

b/f and I DID take a train trip from VA to FL. 24 hour trip! we slept and played games and read. pretty boring but an experience nontheless. next time IF we do that (hopefully we'll fly instead) we are getting a sleeper car

I've already posted here, but, thought I'd mention that I love airports, too. They are prime for people watching. ;) I love the gift shops! It's nicer to have someone there, but, I can make it fun even if I'm alone. But, I don't like turbulence too much, but, other than that, flying is cool. I know I was either heading to or from Germany one time, and, was stuck between two huge guys (like body builders or something) and they couldn't keep their legs together even if they'd wanted to. It was ridiculous, that's a long flight, and, I was on my period. These two guys slept the entire way. I had to wait til I was about ready to burst, then, climb over them, because they would not wake up. I hate when babies are screaming, that's about the only other thing that bugs me on flights. I actually like the food, now, it's always fun. And, I can't remember the last time I had bad airplane food. I remember once having filet mignon, it was delicious! It was an international flight, but, not first class. I've always wanted to fly first class!
