On Saturday, July 2nd, the alarm went off at 5 a.m. We planned on being on the road by 6, but the snooze button is such an evil thing.
Andy, Kia, and I finally got on the road at 7 a.m. The drive to Columbus, OH was lovely and uneventful. We arrived at my Uncle Kevin and Aunt Ann's place around 11 a.m.
Other family members had arrived Friday night, so it was like a nice little family reunion. Since Aunt Ann's party didn't start until 7 p.m., Andy and I decided to visit the Columbus Zoo.
The weather was wonderful and many of the animals were active, much to our delight.
They had a litter of Mexican Wolf Pups, but they were playing so far back, that I couldn't get a good picture.
Andy and I got back to the house around 6:30 p.m. We set up our tent in the backyard, played with Kia, then headed off to party.
We had a great time. Great food, music, and company.
Sunday morning, after spending some time with the family, we decided to take a dip in the pool. Uncle Kevin said Kia could go in too if she wanted to. And oh, how she did. My parents were worried she'd rip the liner and didn't want her to get in. Kia had other plans. She opened the first gate and was working on the second one, when my parents relented.
After saying adios to the family, we treked up to Findlay, OH and spent about an hour at the Dog Park. Seemed like the farther north we got, the hotter it became.
After bidding adios to the the remaining Pet Talk gang, we treked up to Toledo, OH where Kia got to take a nice long and much needed nap, while Andy, Jason, Cheryl, and I went out to dinner.
Then while Kia continued to sleep, we chatted the night away.
Seeing as it was now 1 a.m., instead of stopping at Andy's place to get my car, we drove straight back to Williamston.
Monday morning, July 4th, we were up bright and early for Lansing's 4th of July parade. We met my sister and Seamus downtown and strutted our stuff.
After the parade, Linn and Seamus went home, while Andy, Kia, and I went to my parents house. After a nap and some lunch, the four of us went to see Star Wars.
The movie was over at about 6 p.m. and there was a monster thunderstorm raging outside.
While waiting it out in the lobby, lightning either struck the building or at least very close. Something not far from where we were standing sparked and made that creepy *bzzzzzttt* sound.
Scared the employees just as much as it did us.
We braved the rain and ran to the car, picked up Kia, and headed over to my sisters house where I got to meet Sasha, Jenn's puppy, for the first time.
The BBQ was moved indoors, and we made the best of it, though by this time, Andy and I were falling asleep. The weekends events finally catching up with us.
At Midnight, we headed back to Andy's and instead of going home, I stayed there and slept and slept....and slept.
I did manage to make it to work by 1 p.m.
