This is Peanut, a baby California Ground Squirrel. I snapped most of these pics while he was cleaning his face but didn't quite snap the camera in time. :p ENJOY! :D

And no, I do not have plans on keeping him. ;) Though he is definitely a cutie!

One more pic of him during feeding time. He sure has a lot of energy. I put him on the floor awhile ago and he was talking to me, and is finally learning how to "hop" like squirrels do. It's cute watching him run around. :) BTW, he's not on kitten milk, he's on puppy milk. That's just an old bottle I am using that has been sterilized. ;)

This is what he will look like once his eyes are open.

I just got done looking through the OR Fish and Widlife site and it looks like these are legal as pets, so lets hope this little guy does not imprint on humans too much, or I will have to keep him, because OR does not allow rehabbers to "rehab" them. I thought they were legal, but now I'm 100% sure. I wondered why the Willammette wildlife wanted nothing to do with him. :( How sad. I can't believe that because he can be considered a pet they do not want to care for him. It saddens me. :(

I really don't want a ground squirrel as a pet, LOL. The whole thing about the plaque scares the bajeezes out of me!

I'm going to work early today so I can stop by Bimart and pick up some batteries. :) That way I can show you all more pics of Peanut. Plus, I got two new rats the other day. A double rex dumbo and one hairless girl. Both very sweet babies! :D I need to make a thread just for all my rodents, hehe.
