I found another snake!!!!!! If you missed my first thread here it is.http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82460
Hope that worked, if not oh well. The thread is not that far back. Anywho, I was in the yard today pushing the wheelbarrow when this guy slithered in front of me. He is the same kind of snake as before but not the same snake. This one has no injuries and he was moving. I went and got my camera so I can share him with all of you. Presenting my new little friend...Mr. Yellow Rat Snake (that's what kind he is).

I apologize for the blurry pics, it was so humid outside the lens kept fogging over.

He let me get real close to him and stopped for a little bit while I took the pics. He decided to climb up the tree and into the little hole. Can you see him????

Hope you enjoyed. There was just a hawk in our yard eating worms too, no pics because our door is all fogged up. :(

He's pretty! I've only seen a snake three times here, and, I think it may be the same one. It's at least the same species, I think it's a black racer. I don't want them near me, really, or in my house or anything, but, I think they're beautiful!

It probably is a black racer they are pretty common. This guy didn't scare me because he moved so slow and I know he's not venomous. If he gets in my house....he'll have to be promptly put back outside. I'll have to keep my eye out for him now as I know he's out there.

He is a cutie. We had a greenish ratsnake named Pokey cause that's what he was Pokey. Always had to get into everything. Very calm snake aside from the fact he was sooo fast. He pass to the RB over a year ago now. He was handled on a daily basis and one day we felt little lumps all over him. Which was strange as he didn't have them the day before. We made an appointment with the vet for the following day but he didn't make it that long. He passed away during the night. We took him into the vet anyway to see what it was and to make sure the other snakes and reptiles as well as any of the other animals and people in the house couldn't get it. The vet said he was poisoned. He said it came from the mouse he had eaten 3 days before. Apparently this mouse which we had gotten from the pet store frozen. We didn't feed live. Had poison in his system and when digesting the mouse the poison absorbed into his system and poisoned him in return. Poor little guy didn't know what hit him. I am not a big snake fan but my brother is a reptile specialist and he has always had them around so I kinda grew to like them and no matter what they are living being and don't deserve horrible deaths.

I'm not a big snake fan either. I would not have one as a pet, but this guy was in his natural territory so I let him be and he was nice enough. I was gonna touch him but he can still bite me so I decided against it.

He's beautiful! How awesome of you to get such great photos of him in his natural enviroment. I love the ones of him resting in the tree. :)

Wow, what a coincidence that you would see another one of the same kind so soon after you saw the injured one. He is beautiful and I think you got some great pictures of him. I love the pics of him climbing the tree! I would have loved to have seen him in person. MN doesn't have near the amount of snakes that MO did and I actually miss seeing them. The most beautiful I've seen down there was a speckled kingsnake, he was black with bright greenish yellow spots all over and a bright yellow/green belly. I actually saw one on two different occasions while out hiking.

There are a couple pics of them here, and these are from MO too.
