I took my kayak out today to a HUGE lake just south of my house, Marsh Lake. It's a massive lake. The lake itself was kinda nasty today. It's long, wide and straight so it gets very big waves on it with very little wind! So I stuck to a bay, M'Clintock Bay, for the start of my paddle.

This is where I launched my boat from, the M'Clintock River just off the Alaska Highway. It feeds into Marsh Lake.

I paddled down into the bay.

There are some very nice "cabins" on the bay. Lots of people live there year round now.

Then I turned around and paddled back up to my truck.

But I didn't feel like going home yet. The M'Clintock River has a fairly mild current so paddling against it wasn't too bad. So I decided to keep going upstream.

I went under the bridge--that's the Alaska Highway.

The creek was beautiful! There was a moose in these trees, but she took off before I could get the camera out of my dry bag.

I paddled a couple miles upstream. Then I realized that this wasn't where I had told my hubby I would be so I decided not to go too much farther. It was so peaceful back there! I am definately going back soon.

Dang, I wish I had something that beautiful that near to my house! I'd go out everyday and ride the boat on it! I love to get out in the middle of lakes and just sit, it's so calming!

You take such great pictures! Thanks so much for sharing your great scenery with us. It must be nice and relaxing to go out and do that. I'm glad you remembered that you didn't tell hubby that you would be in a certain part and turned around. I never even thought about you being out there by yourself and for some reason when you said that it made me feel better knowing that you are cautious and follow the safety rules. After all we can't have anything happen to you out in the wilderness. Got to make sure you get back home to take care of that furcrew;)

yup, they are really that green. Apparently the green comes from some kind of silt in the spring mountain/glacier run off.

Nope. The dogs don't come along. They aren't water dogs and there's really no where for them to sit in the boat. I have taken Kayleigh a couple times when I practicing self-rescue techniques in an old copper mine quarry. She likes to swim there and she's good at helping me tip the boat!
