While I had already posted a thread I didn't want to bump it up.

My cousin, Nipper's_Mom, is currently in surgery as I type this.

For those of you who don't know, Amanda was born with Spina Bifida (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/spina_bifida/spina_bifida.htm) Thus, she has been paralyzed from the waist down since birth.

She needs a catheter to urinate. They are saying her bladder has a cut in it and toxins are leaking out into her body. She had been complaining of horrible stomach pains before they went to the Emergency Room.

Please pray that Amanda can be "fixed" and okay once again. She has had so much on her plate with parental issues the year. She's a very sweet girl and loves animals dearly.

We plan to visit her early in the morning when she's out of surgery.

I thought that kids with Spina Bifida didn't live very long; I also didn't recognize her users name...

Hugs abd prayers.
They didn't used to but science is great now with treatments. Also depends on the degree of it. I have one exposed vertabra ,my dad 2 . It's enough to call it Spina Bifida but no requring any medical asissts. We just have to be sure to really keep it clean.

I too have Spina Bifida so I can understand the pain Amanda's going through. I've had several complications stemming from mine but was able to "get fixed" - and I pray that the same goes for Amanda. Please keep us posted, Kay.

As far as I know, the surgery went well, my dad didn't tell me much.
I guess all that is left is to recover.

I feel really bad for her. :(

I just got off the phone with Amanda. She said she's feeling A LOT better, which is very good. She said it was very scary to go through. She also said if not tomorrow, she'll be able to go home Monday. :)
