durable dog beds

Hey, everyone. I'm getting back into consistently training Finn, and, he's doing wonderfully! But, I want to get him to stop sleeping on my bed with me. It'll be hard on both of us, I'm sure, because I love having him sleep up there with me. It's comforting. But, I just think it's better that he doesn't. I've taken him into Petsmart with me to look at certain beds, and, he treats them like stuffies. He immediately takes the bed or pillow in his mouth and starts to shake, he's such a nerd. What I want to do is find something that is durable, but, comfortable. I remember hearing about these beds that almost look like small cots. I could put one of those near my bed. I don't remember them being pretty, but, that's ok. I'd like to eventually get him a nice pillow type bed, but, for now, unless I can find him one that isn't easily chewed up, I don't care what kind it is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Those are the ones I remember seeing! Thanks for the link, Kay! I think I'm going to practice getting him at least to know that a few blankets are his bed. And, then, I'll go from there. I may just stick with blankets until he's over that eating the bed stage. Those beds look so awesome for outdoor use, and, I hope to one day have my own house with a backyard. I'd love to have a doghouse and an outdoor bed like that for Finn. But, yep, that's the one I was remembering, and, it will be something I will keep in my mind, for when I have a little extra $$. :)

MAXIMUS did the same thing with the "bed". He would drag it around and shake it. He's been happy with his blankets. I remember buying a twin size comforter at Target, when I was still working there. My friends thought I was nuts for buying "my dog" a comforter. It's actually alot less than alot of the beds. And it's the right size. He makes it how he wants. Good luck with the separation of beds. Sometimes I still can't get in my own bed, because Kevin and MAXIMUS take up the whole thing.

I use mainly blankets. I buy them at garage sales or SalyAnn for cheap. That way I don't care if they get chewed up! Sleet has a big pillow bed, but she's 12 and doesn't chew anything anymore. The cats pee on the ones with cedar chips in them so Sleet's has plain stuffing in it.

Course, most of the dogs prefer my bed!

Kirby has a cheapy walmart bed that he sleeps in while im using the computer. but he also used to have one in his crate that i put in there for him. lasted for a little while,, then he decsided to dig at it till it was in pieces for some reason.. so i just keep a couple of blankets in there for him instead.
