Hello Everybody!

The other day I was looking through some pictures on my digi and was looking at the menu settings then accidently pressed format memory card and now all the pictures are gone, is there ANY way that I could get my pictures back?

Even doing something to the camera, we will spend any amount of money for everything that was on that camera! Please, help me!

I don't think there is :(. You could always call the camera manufacturer and ask. Or, look in the handbook. But from what I understand, once you format the camera or memory card, they're gone forever. That's why they ask you if "YOU'RE SURE??" before you hit the select button. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.

The same happened to me last week, and I lost some wonderful Anita's pics!! I usually download them to the computer inmediately, but I dont know why, I thought I had already done it!
I think there's no way to get the pictures back, hope someone knows what to do....

Nope...I don't think there's a way. Once you format anything.....a camera memory card, computer harddrive....anything....all files are permanently deleted. Sorry you lost your pics. :(

Nope. They're gone. I had a problem with my camera a while back and called the manfacturer. They had me reformat the card while I was on the phone with them, and they asked me a dozen times before I reformatted it there was anything on the card that I may have conceievably wanted - because once its reformatted, you'll never have the pics. It wipes them clean as if they were never there.

Which reminds me, I gotta reformat my card. They also said that its best to occasionally reformat the card, especially with the amount of photos I take. Each time you take a picture, a little bit of info is left behind on the card even after you download it. If you reformat occasionally, it wipes everyting off, leaving a clean card that takes pictures faster and keeps the chances of errors down.

There is too a way. There's a program you can download for a small price. Don't take the camera anywhere. I'll talk to my brother and get the name of it for you. I did a search and here are some links.

I think this is the one my brother used and it got pics he didn't even remember having

Thank you so much Val! I need those pictures, there are my pride and joy! The ones of Lexi, the foal, Skye, RB Fleck, and now that Jesse has passed to the bridge, those pictures were even more special!

I really appreciate it!

hi paula,

I got this message back from my uncle (an editor and photography ceo)...quicker than I thought! ::

Sure, you can recover erased images. But don't record any new images on the card until you recover the old ones. Very, very important.

I reviewed the best program that recovers them: http://www.imaging-resource.com/SOFT/PHR/PHR.HTM (you can download a demo that will show you what it can recover).

There are a few free ones, but I've never tried them. The latest was in the newsletter a while ago, "Neven Prasnikar writes to tell us Art Plus (http://www.artplus.hr) offers a free file recovery program for memory cards called Digital Photo Recovery [W]."

Tell your friend good luck!

hope this helps too! I should save this information in case I make a mistake! :p :D :)
