Yesterday my friend Tamara, her dog Tippy, Major and I went for a walk. We were in a field and all of a sudden Tamara saw something and she went to go see what it was...it was a little baby rabbit. It is quite small. Well, we didn't see any other rabbits, big or small, anywhere around there, so she picked it up. We continued walking and saw a dead skunk...and I was so surprised because the beginning of this field starts just 5 feet from town...like there are houses and streets right next to it. So...I guess coyotes must have killed it or something. Sooo

We didn't want to leave the rabbit there since we couldn't find or see any sight of evidence of other rabbits being there. So...she took it home. Now I don't know much about rabbits, so I don't know if she made the right choice, but she's had a couple before.

Does anyone know if theres anything special she should feed it, at such a young age? Or any other advice would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention it looked quite thin.

Wait, it is a wild rabbit, right?
If he has all of his fur and his eyes or open you can release him right now.

Her are some links on orphaned wild rabbits:

http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/orphan.html
http://www.rabbit.org/care/orphan.html
http://www.2ndchance.info/bunnies.htm
http://cottontails-rescue.org.uk/handrear.asp - that is for domestic rabbits, but down near the bottom it has a milk forumula if the rabbit is still really young.

Those are just a bunch of links I found on google. Some of them might be helpful.

Please do not raise this rabbit yourself if he is too young to be released. Find a wild life rehabilitation place and take him there. Also, please don't keep him as a pet. :)

Good luck! And if you need any more help, please PM me.

Next time, leave the bunny there, as his mom is probably off foraging for her lunch. But follow the links chrissycat provided, okay?

Ok, well it's not with me, but I will show my friend those links. Thank you!
