View Full Version : Very worried about Emerson tonight

Right after I got home from work this evening, I took Emerson out and we were playing. I was throwing a frisbee for him (a Flipp-Floppy) and he kept running and bringing it back. All of a sudden, he let out a YELP, and came stumbling back on only 3 legs. He IS putting a little bit of weight on it now (4 hours later) but not very much. I talked to vet and she prescribed low level activity and aspirin.

If it doesn't get better in the next couple of days, we will probably go in for x-rays.

Oh, my best guess is that we have a few mole-holes in the lawn, and I think he might have "tripped" in one, spraining his ankle so to speak.

I don't know if this week can get any worse!! :( First my bathroom is torn apart; Mark is on business; Marigold is needing to be crated and pilled since her surgery last weekend; and now Emerson can't run or play. :( Ugggggh!

Oh dear, I am so sorry...I hope Emerson is OK...Perhaps he just sprained it...? You will wake up tomorrow and he will be running around like normal...
Hang in there! Let us know how Emerson is tomorrow am if you can. I'm sure it's nothing...Maybe the grass was HOT? Duncan walks on 3 legs when his paws are cold and sometime when it's too hot? Maybe he hit a rock running that startled him...
Kisses to Emerson and hugs to you. :D

Poor Emerson. :( That sounds just like what happened to my Lacey. I hope it is not. Knee ligaments, and even if it is, it may not be as bad. I will be sending pawsitive thoughts for Emerson!

Anna, I'm keeping Emerson in my prayers. I hope he has just overdone it a bit and needs some rest. Let us know how he is.

Hope your week will end on a positive note! It's hard being a single parent, isn't it? ;)

How's Emmers today?

Is Emerson doing any better?
Rocky use to twist one of his back legs periodically
when he was getting up or running.
Hope that Emberson has nothing serious.

Thanks for asking how Emmers is doing today. This morning, he started out pretty good prancing around, and only favoring his front left leg a little bit. But by the time I took him out to go potty, and back inside again, he was hurting quite a bit and limping pretty acutely. :( I'm hoping that he is resting comfortably and not anxious because the contractors are in the house today. :(

Thanks for the good thoughts. :) Things have just GOT to start looking up soon! :p

Seems like you have a little bit of everything going on at your
house lately. I do hope all it takes is a little rest & Emerson gets
to feeling better. I do hope the limp goes away with more rest.

I know that its been a few days, but just wanted to jot you a quick update. Emerson seems to be right as rain these last couple of days. No more aspirin, and no more limping.

I'm still very hesitant to take him running out in the yard yet, because I'm afraid he will stumble and fall again. :( He wants to play out there SO BADLY!! :(

Glad you're feeling better Emerson! It probably is a good idea to take it easy for a few more days, but maybe that's being overprotective. Maybe you can throw the frisbee for him, but just not far at all?

So glad to hear he's doing better! Wanting to play is a great sign, hopefully he'll be back to full speed quickly!

Good job, Emerson! Glad he's not feeling badly anymore. I understand your hesitation, I'd be nervous, too!
