cat napping

[RICHARD]

There must be something that I'm missing.
Every once in a while, my cat wakes up hissing.
I think that he may just be dreaming.
It sure beats him, waking up screaming!

My sleeping cat dozes, where ever he falls.
On the cushions, on my bed, against the walls
Sprawling out, spreading with sleep.
Does my cat count out sheep?

Does he dream of chasing mice?
Or does he dream of begin nice?
Does he dream of fishy treats?
Or does he dream of clean, crisp sheets.

Does my cat dream of birds
Or is he listening to my words?
While his ears swivel around-
He just lies there and makes no sound...

One eye opens, "Hey, Keep It Down!!!"
I'm trying to sleep, you insensitive clown!
I'll get up when I hear
The fridge open, for your beer....

Or the door where you keep my food
That will put me in the wake up mood!
Why are you making all that noise-
playing with your electric toys?

That's why I sleep on your remote
I doze there, drowsy, with all the hope
That you will acccept MY mission
and ignore that stupid television..

My job for you, is simple and clear..
I want you to play with me-forget that beer!
Forget the paper, the mail and your chores.
at this time, what will tickle you more?

So don't ignore this sleeping feline
It really won't kill you to take the time.
To wake my from my dreaming mouse
and we can chase each other, around the house.

Knock over a box or maybe some dishes.
A little attention is one of my wishes.
and later on when you have me trapped...
We'll both sit down, for a little nap!
