It's been awhile since I posted about Deuce so I thought I'd do an update on him. He continues to do very well. We are having a few problems with him and food, but nothing that can't be controlled. He's clearly been hungry at some point in his life. He has to eat by himself or he fights. Not full out fighting, but he growls and snarls and acts like a big jerk until he gets all the food. So he eats in his own little area and eats alot! OMG, can he eat!!! He eats more than dogs twice his size! Hopefully he'll soon realize that food comes everyday without fail!
A little while ago, he went for his first off-leash walk. It was much easier on my shoulders. The boy can pull! He'll be a good sled dog if I can get a harness on him!

Heading down the trail. He was so happy to be let loose.

He is not a water dog. Wouldn't even get his paws wet!

He does love to run.

Almost home.
He did well. He comes when he's called, although occasionally he wouldn't come right back to me, but he always came back close to me. I think he was concerned I was going to leash him again. I won't be taking him off-leash during busier times on the trails until his recall is more solid. We ran into my neighbor and his little boy on the way home. Deuce was great with Liam, who is 4. He really wanted to jump on him, but managed to control himself and just licked Liam's face. Deuce happily trotted into his pen for a nap after his walk--a tired dog is a good dog!
