Need some tips on cat diets...

I need some advice on cat diets... Since we have 2 cats, they are sisters. How would you go about putting 1 of them on a diet? Betty is really getting really overweight, and I want to nip it in the butt as soon as possible. She will be 11 years old this year, and being overweight is not good for her. But her sister, Crocker, is anything but overweight, she is in perfect shape.
Any tips you could provide would be greatly appreciated...

Do you free feed them now? If so you'll have to stop and feed them measured amounts of food 2 times a day. You'll probably also need to feed them in separate rooms. Good luck.:)

A WEIGHT MAITENANCE,WOULD HELP BOTH CATS,AND IF THE OLDER CAT,COULD BE PRVAILED,ON,TO PLAY MORE,THAT WOULD HELP.I HAVE THE SAME TROUBLE,WITH MOOSE,WHO,SADLY LOOKS LIKE A FOOTBALL,WITH FUR.
