2 Weeks ago we took part in a Flyball demonstration at our local RSPCA shelter, at their annual dog walk.

Whilst we were there some very good friends of mine from Flyball decided to check out the dogs as one of their Flyballin Boxers had retired, they met a lovely little girl and after much thought and discussion decided that they would adopt her :D. Molly has now been with her family for a little under 2 weeks and is fitting in well.

The poor girl acts as though she has had a rough start to life and was found as a stray and her owners were contacted but they did not want her back (Could not afford to feed her), she flinces and cowers at sudden movements and was terrified of tennis balls last week, today she was alot more confident and did very well in her Obedience class and was not running from the tennis balls at Flyball.

The main discussion about this little dog is "What is she? breed wise", the RSPCA had her down as Kelpie X, she has no Kelpie in her lol. She is more likely Whippet, Smoothe Collie and Red Heeler (Aussie Cattle Dog).

Ok nuff rambling on with the photos....

What breeds can you see in her?

She kind of reminds me of Tasha.
I knew she reminded me of a dog i "Know" she has Tasha's ears :D.

She is only quite small, smaller than a Whippet. She is 11 months old so still has a bit of growing to do.

I LOOOVE her coloring! I think she is a lurcher, which is a name used to describe any sighthound mix, ususally mixed with collie.

She is a sweetie. She does have a delicate head like a whippet. And yes I see the red-heeler markings. Whatever her mix, I would say she is a lucky girl. I hope she does well in flyball, it would be great to hear more about her.

ROTFLMAO!!!! I LOVE the first picture LOL!!!!!

Anyways, by the position of her ears and the way she sits, I'd definitely say part Whippet or Greyhound. Do you have a picture of her standing from the side (profile)? As well, what is her height and weight? I definitely see the ACD, but chances are she's probably more than an ACD/Whippet mix. Probably some smooth Collie. Whatever she is, she's beautiful and it sounds like she'll be a champ in flyball! Speed and versatility meshed into one dog.

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone i will surely pass them on to Molly's family :D.

I will also be seeing them at training Wednesday night so i will try and get a profile shot of the young lady.

Giselle, lmao yeah i did not want to post Molly young handler on the net so that was the result. She is only small about 17" or less at the withers and about 12 Kilograms at the moment.

Wow, she does make me think of my girl, especially her face/expression here:

Her body shape reminds me of Tash too. Tash is a few inches taller (22 inches). I really enjoyed seeing sweet Molly :)

Off the top of my head, I think a show ACD should run around 18" at the withers whilst show Whippets are around 20-22" at the withers. This is off my head, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

If Molly is almost a year old, she should be hitting 18-20". Now how much is 12 kilos in pounds? Whippets are around 20-26 lbs, again, off the top of my head. I'm not sure how much ACDs weigh, but my guess is 40-ish. I don't know how much this is in kilos, though....

What is the texture of her coat? Now that I look closer, it really looks like this girl has quite a bit of coat. I was thinking maybe a little Sheltie? That would explain why this girl is so small!

Lol i am terrible at converting to pounds so i will have to find a converter ;). As we are coming into Winter her coat is getting thick, to the touch she has the coat of an ACD maybe not so thick though. ACDs dont have a height standard here, all heights can be shown. So i am unsure about heights with ACDs.

Jessica, both Tasha and Molly have simalar lovely ears :D.

Ok i found one she would be about 26 pounds :).

i would say a whippet/heeler mix,whatever she is,she sure is pretty!

Is that so? I don't have any experience with showing in other countries but I had no idea their standards didn't dictate a certain height. I'm guessing ACDs are used for work there more often, huh?

Other than that, Wow! Molly sounds like a perfect 50/50 (whippet/ACD). 26 lbs...that's right on the money! You mentioned her coat isn't as thick as an ACD, but that would be due to her Whippet blood.

One thing does make me wonder, though. Her facial markings looks like faded Doberman markings with the light brown muzzle and eyebrows. Interesting...
