Corkscrew recently started peeing on my matress so today we went off to the whitecoats to make sure he wasn't sick. We went to a new vet because last time our vet was out of town and I had a horrible experience with the other vet there. After browing the yellow pages I found a clinic that works just with cats.

I was so impressed, there were two sweet torties hanging out in the lobby. One on a bed on top of the front desk and another curled up asleep on the couch.

I was mostly amazed at how well they were able to control Corkscrew. He was his usual hissy and howling self, and they seemed pefectly comfortable handling him despite the bad behavior. The techs and the vet were all wonderful when it came to dealing with angry Corkscrew.

The vet also noticed some gunk in one of his ears, the other ear looked perfect so the vet is going to look at the gunk and see if it is an infection. I know that I seldomly check their ears since they are indoors, I never thought it was a concern. I'm happy that the vet noticed it, but from now on I will be making sure to check their ears on a more regular basis.

They asked if they could hold him over night for a urine sample and I agreed. He will also be getting a microchip because I haven't had that done yet, and keep saying I need to do it. So I figure since he's already there I might as well get it done.

I'll update tomorrow when I hear back from the vet. At least I can rest easy knowing that this time he is in wonderful hands.

Prayers on the way for your precious Corkscrew that it isn't anything serious and that medication is all that he needs to feel better.

This new vet clinic sounds like heaven. I'm glad you were able to find it.

Poor baby, I hope he will be alright.

I hate it when one of my kitties has to spend the night at the vets.

The clinic does sound wonderful.

Keep us posted on how he is doing!

Is this the Feline Ltd. Cat Clinic? If so, that place is great--it's where I take Indy. They're awesome.

Paws crossed for Corkscrew.

Laura - that cat-only practice sounds wonderful!!

I am sorry our Corkscrew had to spend the night though. I hope they now have that urine sample and can figure out what is wrong. Hopefully, it is an easily treatable UTI and then no more wondering why the peeing:rolleyes: I hate to *hope something is wrong* - but to me, it is better to have something and treat it:)

Well well Corkscrew!! We love you, you gorgeous orangie!! Oh and this reminds me that I have not seen Corkscrew pictures for quite awhile!:p Come ON Laura!!

Hope Corkscrew is all better real soon - if it's a UTI. I seem to remember you recently moved, do you think it could be just behavioral because of the move? Best that you took him to the vet to rule out illness first though.

I know what you mean about the cat only clinics. When Tubby was sick my regular doctor told us to give him massages. The vet at the cat only clinic knew what was wrong with him the instant he saw him - and massages weren't going to make him better! The vet can be a little curt on the phone, but he really is nice and is wonderful and caring. He also suggests non-medication type medicines instead of gouging me for expensive kitty meds. He and his vet techs also know how to handle an upset kitty. I really would recommend a cat only clinic to everyone, but I know they're somtimes hard to find. Mine is a little further away from me than the other one, but his prices are about the same and he's sooo much better than the other one that I won't take P & CJ anywhere else now.

I think cats may behave better at all-cat specialists since there aren't dog and other animal scents about. Also, the people become very accustomed to dealing with cats. I'd love to take mine to an all cat vet, but they act just fine at the GP vet.

I hope you resolve whatever Corkscrew's trouble is!

All the best for handsome Corkscrew:)

I think it is the individual's talent how well people can deal with cats. We have a married couple as vets. Both are very nice and good and well informed vets. But only she can handle a cat so that he gets quiet all the time- just a kind of cat whisperer.

Glad Corkscrew is in good hands:)

No, but I've head about that clinic. We went to the Cat Hospital of Tucson, it's down broadway.

Yes, I do think that it could be caused by the stress of moving, but I'd also rather be safe than sorry! I made sure to inform the vet of our recent move.

I haven't called them yet since it's still early here. I figure if they just got a sample last night/this morning they need some time to test it. I'll update as soon as I call them.
