View Full Version : Goldie's Miracle...

It's been a year since Goldie started taking Meloxicam every day. She's a whole new dog. Before the medication, Goldie was a fairly miserable creature who couldn't play with other dogs. We thought she just had a dog aggressive temperment, but it just hurt too much to play nicely. She didn't like attention from us much either. She was probably afraid we'd touch her hips and make it hurt more. Goldie now lives with Chase in her pen and a few of the other males go in there to play with her too. She is always playing with her precious tennis balls and she wacks my hands to get more attention!

Yesterday I took her for a walk with four other dogs. That's a miracle all by itself as she used to have to go alone! I'll post pics of them in another thread. I thought Goldie deserved her thread for these pics!

First she ran! She can't fully keep up with the other dogs. No medication is going to make her legs longer! But she can run. Before she used to walk right beside me, which was kinda nice, but not much fun for her!

We went to the creek and she went swimming. She had fun trying to catch the waves and laying in the current.

On the way home, she ran some more and even jumped over a few low obstacles. This was after she had already gone five kilometers. A walk more than 3km long was out of the question for her a year ago!!

Go Goldie!!!
:D :D :D :D

Yeah Goldie! She looks so happy, it makes me smile!

If no one has ever told you, thank you for taking such good care of her. Every dog deserves a chance like that.

That is so great to hear! I talked to my vet about it and he said that and Rimadyl are about the same. Like taking Advil or Tylenol. However, I've been giving Duke double the dosage and it doesn't seem to be doing too well so I'm going to try what you're using on Goldie. I hope it has as good results.
