When we all got home from adoption day yesterday, I saw Lucas holding up one front leg. I thought "NOW what did you do to yourself?". But he has what appears to he a bite hole in his shoulder area. Or possibly a claw mark. And the top part of this front leg looks a bit swollen. :( It does not seem to be absessing nor is it bleeding but since I already had an appointment at the vet this morning for 3 "yearly" physicals, I will just substitiue Lucas for one of the ladies (lucky girl, won't get the dreaded jabs today). I figure we will get antibiotics to prevent infection and he'll have to wait out the soreness, but better to have it looked at by the experienced eye in case I missed something.

I hope he's OK and it isn't anything too serious!

You don't think one of the other three did something to him to try to get out of going to the Vet., do you?:D I mean, some cats will do just about ANYTHING to get out of going to see the whitecoats........

Seriously, though, please let us know how he does.......

We'll keep or paws and fingers crossed that all is well, and that it's just a superficial scratch!

Poor Lucas!! What have they done to you while meowmie was away?

Yes, better have him checked by a vet, just in case a ligament is affected (which would explain why he is holding up his paw).

Hope you'll feel better soon, little boy!

Poor Lucas! :(

As for leaving someone home -
Whenever I have an "extra" critter that needs to see the White Coat;
I just take the "extra" along with the "scheduled" ones ...

Most White Coats will <squeeze> in an "extra" patient. ;)

She (the vet) would more than likely squeeze in the sick one, but I do not like to take advantage and get them behind. It is not my way. Sorry. :o

Now, Mr Lucas has nothing broken or major injury and a course of antibiotics and a warm compress should make him feel better soon. :) (just as I suspected ;) )

I joked with the vet about taking a "casting" of the tooth mark to pinpoint the culprit vis dental records. :D:D (LOL)

And for those of you who don't already know it, Lucas is a faker. (we caught him faing illness before) today, when I got home and left him out of the carrier...he RAN out. I thought your leg hurt, young man??? :p

I'm so glad you are ok Lucas. You are such a cutie and I hate to think of you hurting. It sounds like you will be all well real soon. Great news!:D

Now Lucas, if you are going to pretend that its worse than it is then don't do something silly like RUN right in front of meowmie!!! Silly boy, you got busted!!

Lucas is limping less so he must be healing. But I believe he now has diarrhea from the antibiotics. :( Poor thing.

Glad to hear Lucas' leg is on the mend - hope his tummy gets better too!

Connor was limping last month, and ended up at the vet (again ! )!

It turned out that SOMEONE had bitten him on the bone/joint and it was inflamed.

My vet said it was a common injury in fights and a very painful one, on a joint which is very sensitive (NAWTEE Ally).

Seems Lucas is doing quite well. :D Swelling looks down and the tenderness is almost gone. A tuft of hair at the injury has fallen off, though, and he has a bald spot now. SOMEONE still has diarrhea though. (On my PINK rug. ) Don't know if it was Lucas though.

I'm glad to hear poor Lucas is feeling better. He had himself a pretty nasty bite didn't he? Well, its bound to happen every now and then I guess.
Sorry to hear about the pink rug! That will be a fun spot to try to get out. As we speak I hear the wonderful sound of barfing and of course its in the only carpeted room of the house!
