Some NEW and EXCITING news (pics too)...

I have some new news to share. First off, it has been over a month now since Dale has passed away. It is still so unbelievable that my big guy is gone. We know that there was nothing that we could have done to prevent it, so it is something that we have learned to live with, and we know that he is in a better place. We still miss him so. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. I love you big boy…and I always will.

Onto the new news…we knew we had a health agreement with our breeder, in the case that Dale would pass away before the age of 5 years old; we would have the option of getting a replacement dog. Now I know that no dog could ever replace Dale. We were not pursuing the breeder about it and quite frankly, didn’t think that he was even going to offer us a puppy. So, one day, out of the blue, our breeder calls and says that he has a female puppy that he would like to give us. (This was 2-3 weeks ago when he called). She was 9 weeks old at the time, so she is now 12 weeks old. We were so unsure about getting another Swissie, due to the whole bloat thing, but how in the world could we turn down a puppy?!! And we felt that we really didn’t even get to experience a Swissie in full, b/c Dale died so young…he was just barely out of his puppy hood, and we were really looking forward to knowing him as an adult doggie as well. Our house was so missing Dale and his presence that we said, of course, we will take her!! Anyway, we were already planning on going to a Swissie dog show in PA, so we decided to meet the breeder there, and pick her up, rather than driving to NC to get her (where the breeder lives…much further than PA for us). So the rest is history…


(We also like to think that if Dale is looking down on us and sees her with us, that he is proud to know that we loved him and his breed sooo much that we now have another Swissie…all b/c of him. I hope he is proud….I sure was proud to be his owner.!!)

She is such a DOLL!! Such a sweet sweet temperment, and is so submissive...already does "sit" for us...I am in love!! (btw, we took her to the vet today and she is 22lbs. and healthy) :)

She is sleeping now, so i will take more pics later and you can guarentee you will see more of her :) BTW, i love her cute pink nose, it should turn black as she matures, though...I can't say enough about her personality...she is a gem!!

OMG, I'm so excited and happy for you that I'm crying. What a beautiful, beautiful little girl to help heal the pain in your hearts. Of course she is not to replace Dale, no one will ever do that, but she is the absolute best medicine to help heal the pain of Dale's tragic passing. She will have her own unique bond and place in your hearts. I simply cannot wait to hear and see more of her.

I just read the tribute to Dale, and, looked back on some of your posts, Robyn. What a beautiful life. I'm so glad that you all are able to give your love to a new puppy, and, I think Dale is proud. What a beautiful breed! I will certainly be keeping an eye on Harlee, because I know at some point, I'll want a buddy for Finn. And, the Swissie has caught my attention! :)

Congratulations on your new addition! I bet Dale would be honored! I bet Dale sent Harlee to you to watch over you. He would want you to get another dog because he saw how happy he made you and your family (at least this is the way my family looked at it w/ riley and brooke).

I agree with what someone else said, Harlee won't replace Dale. I was scared that would happen with Riley because she was the same breed/color as Brooke, but they were SO different they weren't alike in any way.

But yeah, Harlee is the cutest thing ever. I'm so happy for you!!

Thanks everyone!! She is such a doll baby!! I really appreciate all of your kind words...i do think that Dale must have helped this one come along...maybe made a little deal with God for us:)...b/c she is just so precious and sweet!

Logan~ Nope, Grandma Pam hasn't gotten to see her yet (in person)...tomorrow she will, though...but she is bursting at the seems over it!! :)

FizzGiggs~She is related to Dale, but i have to find out where in their lines exactly...the breeder mentioned it, and with so many other things being mentioned when we talked with him, I forget how they are related exactly...she may be a cousin...i think they share the same Grandfather, in some way...who by the way, is still living at 11 years old...that is a great age for a Swissie.

I am so glad that when the offer was made you were able to accept Harlee into your heart and your home. She has a big job to do and that is to help you heal and obviously she has already begun to do just that. She certainly is a pretty girl and from what you say about her personality, you've got a double deal. I can't wait to hear more about her and hopefully she will inspire a few funny tales to relate. Congratulations to your whole family, including Grandma Pam :p.

Congratulations grandma Pam! I took my new puppy to the groomers the other day and there was a black standard poodle and a white standard poodle being groomed...they are gorgeous...I now have a thing for standard poodles...they are really cool dogs.

There are so many awesome dogs out there and so many breeds to experience and it's hard to not want them all! LOL! If you should ever decide to bring a standard poodle in your life you will be smitten for sure. She did sooo well last night. I let her out at 12 midnight ( when i went to bed), and she didnt whine in her crate at all the whole night...around 5:30am, i let her out, but i am not sure who was awake first, me or her, but i knew she would probably have to pee...and she did! :) And then i brought her back to her crate and she walked right in and went to sleep...didnt wake up again until 8:30am...i am hoping the potty training goes well. Swissies are known to be hard to potty train (and Dale certainly was...but females are suppose to be easier) :) But she *seems* to be catching on quite well!
