Where are you located? Yahoo Groups has a Maine Coon group - that would probably be a good place to start or do a search on PetFinder for Maine Coons. That's how I found my Mishi, who may not be a purebred, but he's Maine Coon enough for me and needed a home; or, actually, I refer to him as my Main Goon as he is my big, fluffy silly boy!

They have GREAT purrsonalities, love water, talk a lot and generally are gentle giant kittens for a very long time. Good choice!

Maine Coon Breeders (http://www.breedlist.com/breeders/mai_ac.html)

Here is the breeders referral list from FBRL. There are tons of breeders and you can check them all out here. Let us know who you decide on.

Does anyone have Stella's PT name?...something like rhcathouse?? She posts here sometimes and might be able to recommend someone in your area.

My best suggestion has been mentioned - and that is finding a MC or mix at the shelter. Around here - we seem to always have a few - that is how I got my sweet Dylan:)

Please consider rescuing a cat.

Look at all these great sites, and all these great cats.

I was also going to say too, please think about rescueing a Main Coon cat that needs you. We have so many cats that are getting killed every week here in Texas - a lot of kill shelters - and these cats really need a home before they get killed. No offense but after going to the shelters I just don't understand why there are even breeders out there. My Meka is a bobtail - had Bobtail kittens at the shelter (only reason they kept her because she dropped them the day after she got there and they were nursing) so she is a real bobtail and from research on the net and the way she acts I'd say she is a purebred and they go for a lot of money for the more rare American Bobtail cats - and I found her at Animal COntrol kill shelter.... Ditto on finding one in a shelter. There are soooo many needy cats out there....not to mention the savings. I'm 100% positive that no matter how much a shelter charges it will still be less than buying a purebred. And I believe the breeder that is here sometimes is rpcathouse. Yes, as a matter of fact this is her id name here (I looked it up) and here is a link to her website R.P. Cathouse (http://www.rpcathouse.com )
