I have a good friend that has just discovered some very bad news. The doctor called her at work and she had to leave immediately. She's got to have some CT scans tomorrow to make sure the lumps in her throat haven't spread to her lungs and stomach. It's not good news so she needs all the encouragement she can get. She's also got a brother that is dependant on her for everything. I've told her that miracles happen so maybe she will get one. She hasn't been told that it's cancer yet but the doctor seems to think it is. Thanks in advance for your kind words. I'm going to email this link to her.

Tell you friend that we are praying very hard for her.

And if (I'm saying if) it's cancer, it's not the awful sentence it used to be. My sister was given 6 months to a year to live - TWO years ago. She is currently in remission and doing fabulous. Another sister is now considered cured of her cancer.

When we found out they were sick, we put them on several prayer lists - prayers work!! You are a good friend to ask for prayers for her.

Val, please add my prayers to the others that have posted here. The dreaded "C" word can bring chills and fears, but I have witnessed many miracles over the years that I've worked at the Cancer Society. Your friend will be no exception.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your friend Val. We're really hoping she gets that miracle and everything will be ok. How horrible for her to get that news at work. God be with her and her family.

Her surgery is tomorrow at 1130. I am going to try and visit her before going into work. I pray everything goes well. The doctors have to be very careful not to cut any nerves in the throat area.

May this little poem help ease your friends mind and remind her she has the big guy looking out for her.

Prayers you got - both of you. Cancer always sounds scary, but as a survivor, now that I'm on the other side of the diagnosis, a positive attitude is more than half the battle of beating the evil beast. Catching it early and trusting the modern technologies - the medical profession has come a LONG way when it comes to treating cancer, even since my diagnosis in '97 - living a long and healthy life after a cancer diagnosis is more probable than it used to be. Please keep us posted.

Wonderful news! I just talked to her husband and the doctor is almost 100% positive that it wasn't even cancer. The nodes were just swollen for some reason. So, she didn't even have to stay in the hospital. Of course, tests will be run to make sure it wasn't cancer. Thanks for all your well wishes.
