How's peoples view on the indoor / outdoor sistuation?

I know some of you have made special catruns, and I think that's a great idea, especially if you live close to highly trafficated roads.

Myself, I am now and indoor/outdoor kitty. I used to be an indoor/allowed out on a leash kitty. Mamma and daddy had a bit of a discussion about it, as daddy would have prefered me to be an indoor kitty... now that he sees how much fun I have outside (stalking birdies, climbing trees, running like a maniac, falling in the pond... eh... ok, maybe the latter isn't that much fun, but trying to get to the fish is!), he's so glad I'm allowed outside!

I'm a much happier and relaxed kitty after I've been allowed out by myself, but as mamma says, I'd never have been allowed out (except for on a leash) if we lived by a highly trafficated road.

PS: I'd also had all my shots and boosters, been microchipped, and got my tag with our phonenumber on before I was allowed outside.

SWince I live off a major road, as in ten feet from the window... indoors only. Even if I lived in the middle of nowhere, they'd still be indoors only. I like knowing where they are and what they are up to. There are still dangers out there that are not involved with cars: mean minded humans, larger animals that think my cat looks like prey, disease, etc. If they were evr outdoors, I'd drive myself insane wondering where they were or what they were up to.

Indoors only.

I have a cat that stays outside at my parents house, but they live on a huge farm and Callie (my cat) is heavily protected by our two collies! She sleeps inbetween them every night!

As for Josie & Brodie, it's just not safe here, where we live. Too close to the road . . . there's a lot of big dogs that run the streets, LOL . . . I just feel safer with them being inside kitties.

Yes... mamma worries about me too, when I'm outside, especially if I don't come in before dark... As for dogs, I like to tease the neighbours two dogs! I'll lie down flat on the ground, and stick my paw under the fence (they got a huge fence all around their garden!)... this drives the doggies insane!!!

As I've gotten my shots, all we can do is hope that they work (as there's always that little procentage that doesn't), and keep up with the yearly boosters.

Yes... sometimes a kitty gets hit by a car... or even worse things might happen (mamma has had tons of fur-sisters and brothers when she grew up... one got hit by a car, and one something so awful happened to, that there's no way I say, as it's too upsetting)... but mamma feels taking those chances are worth it... and I agree! After a taste of the outdoors - there's no way I'd want to be inside all the time! Hmmm... I still haven't managed to catch a birdie...! maybe today will be the day!!!

Spartacus's mamma butting in: Oh, please, why don't you just stay away from the birds? Can't you just settle for insects? Listen to mamma, and leave the birdies alone!

Indoor ONLY! The outside has cars, 2 vicious dogs next door who have attacked small animals and people, stupid folks with guns, fleas, disease, and wild animals.

We are happy kitties and we think we go outside when we go through the little door in the laudry room. SHHHH!!! Don't tell them otherwise!!

We go here, where there are bugs and birds to stalk. It also has trees to climb and things to scratch!

Roscoe,and Nugget,are Indoor/Outdoor Cats,as they will yowl,and start fights,real fights,if they are confined,too long,and they sadly ,are not the cleanest,of Cats! The Rest,are All indoor,of course,they are all,up,on thier shots.I know,that JJJ3,Moose,Princess,and Michael,would love,to go out,and as soon,as I can find,a contracter,that I like,the Front Porch,and The Back,will be enclosed.That will help,a bit,I hope!

A kitty pram!!! What a marvellous invention!!! I've never seen anything like it! Super-duper!

And I'm sure your kitties will love it catmandu, if you get them a porch, but then again, all your kitties seems so happy anyway!

For the cleanliness... eh... I still haven't figured out that I can go to the loo outside! Nope, everytime I need my to go to the loo, I come running inside to my litter box! Mamma finds that really strange... hey - why should I go to the loo in the garden, if she doesn't???

Oh what a beauty you are! I suppose as long as you are in a "safe" area a little outdoor time might not be so bad. I would prefer it if it was only when you are supervised, but actually I prefer indoors for true safety.

Yes - yes - yes!!! I am handsome!!!

There's is 9 gardens connected to mamma and daddys, and I stay within those gardens. One's I nearly went in front of the house (where the road is... there might be two cars there an hours... very quiet, and 30mph zone), I chased another kitty away, but stopped as soon as I came to the corner of the house (there's also a front garden)... it was no fun there... no trees, no proper grass, no birdies, etc...

Nope... the back garden is much more fun!!! Yee-ha! If it rains on the other hand, I prefer to stay inside! Rain should be banned!

Inside only here - except outside on a leash or in their little 4 x 6 cage thingy. I live at the intersection of two Interstate highways so there is no way one of my kitties is going outside without being restrained!

My mom has a big woods behind their house so she has an "outside" kitty that has stayed safe for about (?) years now but in my mind, there have been too many kitties hit on the highway by her house and when I moved back in for a bit I still only let Tubby out on a leash and supervised. I'm just too paranoid - and overprotective meowmy I guess you could say. ;)
