You've got a couple of really cute critters. Now that you've figured out how to do pics, you can put more up. Isn't it funny how animals find you? Doogie(cat) sort of adopted me on this site.

Fizz actually came to us from a breeder - Bonacres goldens - in Ottawa, IL - but she's 'adopted' because the breeder placed her with us on the condition that we have her spayed and never breed her. She was intended to be the next generation of their breeding stock, but she has a mild heart murmer, and the breeder, being responsible, ended her line because of the risk of passing the defect to pups and being reinforced by another line.

Fizzy has been checked out by heart specialists galore, and passed all her other certifications - eyes/ hips/ elbows etc - and they all said that she should live a long and healthy life, that the heart murmer is slight and should not affect her health in any way.

so instead of having puppies, she gets to be the spoiled and treasured darling of our home.... not a bad deal!

We adopted our last dog, Tristan, from rescue, but when i was looking for Fizz - I was a little gun-shy of going thru rescue again, only because we had just lost our beloved heart-dog, Tristan, to Lymphoma, In January - after a tough fight with chemo.

Tristan was only 5 yrs old, and we had only had him for 3 short, but very intensely happy years. Tristan was a uniquely special and charming personality that grabbed the hearts of everyone who ever saw him.

Tristan was a mix - golden/ chessie - and obviously no thought went into his breeding. He was so lovable, outgoing and adorable that I wouldn't have swapped a minute of our time with him - ever. But it was because of his poor breeding that he had always had allergies and health problems, and probably, why he had Lymphoma at such a young age. It broke our hearts to watch cancer take our baby away from us - and I just couldn't face that possibility again.

So this time, we went looking for a pure bred golden to love - and we were lucky to find Bonacres and Fizzy!
