PT meeting with Willie started great, ended horrible! :o(

When I first posted about baby Heather, my recently acquired bottle baby, Willie (trayi52) immediately PMd me saying that she would love to adopt Heather. At first I told her that I was going to wait, but she would be first choice. Well, with the recent sadness that Willie has experienced (the loss of her beloved dog Dana) I thought that maybe she would like to have a bottle baby.

I contacted Willie, and she said that she would love to have bottle baby Heather now. I explained that she had been having some diarrhea, but I thought she was "ok" for now ... but would need a vet visit soon. We made arrangements to each drive just over an hour and meet in Columbia, TN. When we met ... it was so wonderful to see eachother in person, exchanged big happy hugs, and I met her precious grandson, Dakota! I was so happy ... and had hubby take a few pics.

I told Willie that little Heather seemed weaker today and she said she would take her to her vet. Well, she took her right away ... but unfortunately baby Heather passed away at her home only a couple of hours later. :( :( :(

When Willie called me on the phone just a few minutes ago, I could not believe that Heather had passed away. She declined so quickly, and I just cannot believe that this all happened. I feel so horrible for even taking her to Willie. My whole thought was to make her feel better, for her to have a tiny one to bond with, and instead she had her a couple of hours and had to watch her die. I would have taken her to the vets when I first got her, but the lady misled me .... said she had taken Heather to her vet, and they said she looked fine. Well day before yesterday, I spoke with that woman and asked her exactly what had the vet done. That is when she told me that she hadn't "actually" taken Heather to her vet, she let her friend / vet-tech look at her!:rolleyes: :mad: So, meanwhile, I am just feeding her KMR and thinking she is doing ok. Which to be totally honest, she was full of energy, even was trying to climb out of the box on the road trip today. Well, I now feel like a scum bag, and Willie .... again, I am so very sorry!!!:( :( :(

how sad. Such a little angel and too little time in this world. Looks like Willie was so happy to hold her and nuzzle with her. I'm so sorry for you both and soo sorry that little Heather is lost to us. It would have been wonderful to see her grow and thrive right here on PT. Rest in Peace sweet baby Heather. You are now and happy healthy baby playing in the grass and flowers on RB. And one day you will have 2 meowmies waiting to hold you and cuddle you again.

Ohhh, that is so sad!:( Heather was such a beautiful little kitten! Do you have any idea what her illness was? Willie, that must have been so tragic to you, too!

There must be a reason for things happening the way they did though. Heather is at the Rainbow Bridge now, happy and healthy forever after.

I sure hope that something good can come out of all of this, although I don't know what that might be. Maybe there is another homeless little kitten out there somewhere that is meant to find Willie sometime.

And Kim, please don't feel too bad. You were doing something out of the goodness of your own heart, and had no idea that things would turn out this way. You are such a special person....

Just keep up the good work, and don't get discouraged....

I am amazed she went downhill so fast. I know she was meant to be in both your lives. There is a plan, and everything happens for a reason, even if we don't know what it is right away.

I completely agree. At least I got to spend a little time with Heather. That was just pure heaven to me, I heard her purr! It was wonderful. I held her in my arms.

Kim, it was nothing that you done, please don't blame yourself, it was just meant to be. Somewhere out there is a kitten with my name on it.

Kim, you can't blame yourself for this. I can't believe that woman lied to you like that. I am so sorry for all of you. It was nice to see a smile on Willie's face. Poor Heather, too. I am sitting here crying right now over the whole episode. I am SO sorry you guys had to go through what you did. It sounds like Heather might have had either Distemper or Coccydia. Those two diseases can be fatal to kittens in a heartbeat if undetected.

Kim, do NOT blame yourself. Blame the idiotic woman who lied to you by telling you she took it to the vet. A vet tech is HARDLY the medical expert needed to diagnose diseases like this.

I'm so sorry to read this about baby Heather.

As for this foster person, I would recommend asking for vet receipts if you choice to deal with this lady again in regards to another kitty. Certainly, I would make it known among the other foster people that this women you dealt with cant be trusted with her word.

How terribly sad Kim & Willie. :( I think we all fell in love fast with that tiny Heather, but Moosmom took the words out of my mouth, especially regarding distemper. There's very few kittens that can survive that awful virus, and I have lost quite a few to that insidious virus. RIP Baby Heather, and please don't blame yourself Kim...how were you to know? :confused: :( Willie, I know your heart is aching for just that special baby, and with Kim living in a rather short distance away, I'm sure you'll be first on her list for a baby to love. My heart's aching.

Kim, how could you have known? It wasn't your fault but I can understand how bad you feel. I would feel the same way even though I couldn't have done anything to prevent it. Don't blame yourself and remember that some things just happen and there is nothing you could have done to change it.:(
Willie, God love you, what a bad time you are having. You poor thing! It will get better Willie and know that we love you and you are in our thoughts and prayers. This precious little girl was just needed at the RB and had to go. She must be awful special and I'm glad you got to meet her.

At least something good came from this and you and Kim got to meet.

Gosh, I'm struggling with words right now and don't know quite what to say.

Kim, first off, you have nothing to feel bad about. Your heart was in the right place and you were misinformed. That's not your fault. Secondly, you only tried to help Willie. Her heart is breaking from the recent loss of her pup and you were only thinking of her. God bless you for that.

I do believe that little Heather was not meant to spend her life down here. God must have had other plans for her at the RB. Perhaps at this minute, she is greeting some sad hooman with a broken heart who is passing over the bridge now. Hold on to that thought and know that Heather will grow up to be healthy and strong at the RB.
