Hi again, I am still working on an issue for my sister in Italy. She is moving back to the USA and of course, wants to bring her chco. Lab, Ben, with her. I have all the info from US customs and global migration.....and now am looking into a "Pet Escort Service". If this does indeed exist, I believe they are an organization that handle transporting dogs (& other animals???) into foreign countries......and if they really exist, this may be an option for my sister, but i cannot find any info on them to date. Does anyone out there have any knowledge on this organization, and if so, would you be kind enough to pass on the info. My private email is [email protected], or post to this thread. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your time! Jenna

I have never heard of such a thing...is she not able to bring him to the US herself? Do you mean like a broker type arrangement where someone else would handle all the paperwork and the customs clearing?

Yes, something like that.....I have looked, but have not found anything like a Pet Escort Service......someone had suggested it, but I don't think it exists, as far as I have been able to tell......she really wants to just fly herself and the dog on the same flights in, but worries that if she first lands, say in NYC, that they will take her dog there and quarrentine him there, not in her final destination....but I am thinking she can fly him into the USA to her final destination...that is the real issue. She is going to depart from Milan, and her final destination would be Phoenix, Az. I think she'll have to first touch down, say, in Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, etc...then catch a connecting flight to Phoenix. I think I need to call the airlines and verify that there are no flights directly from Milan to Phoenix....she does not like the idea of her dog being quarrentined in another state...she wants to be able to go and see him everyday, etc....there are no phone lines open to call CDC....I've called 5 times, left a message, and no one ever gets back with me.....I emailed them too, but again, no reply back....very frustrating.

try to search pet travel or pet shipping in google. i think there are a couple of worldwide services like that. but it's going to cost you a lot.

Thanks, yes, I actually did a google search (tons of hits), looked for about 2 hours, did not find anything in that time. I need to edit my above question, I did call the Center for Disease Control, the referred me to the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, and they did not return my calls......the Center for Disease Control offices say they only deal with exportation of animals out of the USA. I have all the correct websites, it's just if you have any questions that are not answered on the site, you have no way to contact someone (well, someone who will call you back). The website is very general.......at least not specific enough for everyone's needs. I think you are correct about the cost of a Pet Escort service, and why spend that money, since they cannot get around any quarantine issues. I think this will all work out, it's just getting all the necessary info. When all this is finished, I will post to this thread on what we had to do, what happened, etc.....pass along learnings. Thanks again! Jenna

WOW, You are great! I just sent my sister the happytailstravel website....and it looks like they're in Tuson, Az, how perfect. I'll let you know what the estimated cost is as soon as she sends in her paperwork......Thanks so much!
