View Full Version : New Logos for the Sites

Karen

We have created what we hope will be our logos for the sites - one each for Pet of the Day , Cat of the Day and for Dog of the Day .

We would like everyone's opinions of them, specifically on a couple of points.

1. Do you like them?
and
2. Are they too similar to any other logo?

Ohhh Karen! I bet you drew those, huh?! Looks great!

One suggestion: I think a bun (not that I'm biased or anything ;) :D ) should be 'paired' with the bird. And of course, the bun should look like Miz Hoppy!

In answer to your ?s:
1. YES!
2. Not that I know of...

1. Yes, I like them.
2. I have never seen any other logos like them.
Excellent design!

Love the look. I do agree with the Zipster...add a bun bun :D after seeing Gus Gus and Frost I really am thinking of adding to my crew. The dogs and cats agree but I don't like the looks in their eyes when they say so :p laurie

Yes, the logos look good.
No, I haven't seen anything similar.
Have one question: where would they go on the page?

Do you mean the current alphabet logos with photos of three different animals and,I think, a sunset/sunrise, would be gone?
Would the new header look similar to the new Pet Talk one, but with just one line drawing logo?

1. yes, especially with the heart shaped tags.

2. Nothing comes to mind.

I like the new logos very much, and not to hurt the bird people, and not because you have a rabbit, but I think a rabbit would be a better "pet" or something exotic like a "iguana" . Maybe take a poll on which "pet" seems to be the most popular.
But all in all I do like the new logos and I haven't seen them anywhere else like that.

I liked the new logos right away - mainly because the pets all look happy! But it is harder to see that in the smaller size.

I think they look great! Wish I could draw like that. Where on the site do you intend to use them? Well, I'll find out one of these days. :)

I really like the dog, but I just was wondering if she could be a bit smaller, and maybe have floppy ears and maybe be fluffy and white???

Step 1 is to create logos that are our own and that people like.
Step 2 is two create color versions.
Step 3 is to place them next to the text "Pet of the Day.com" etc. on a masthead for the home pages.

Right now we are not sure what the masthead will look like but obviously we would like it to be recognizable to the millions of people who have already seen our website over the past four and a half years.

The current logos at the top of Pet Talk are too small and curiously squished to the left leaving a void in the middle and right of these pages. They need Karen's help. Especially since Karen is leaving for London for a week in a few days.

Karen, hope you are going to London for pleasure, I loved London, there is so much to see and whatever you do be sure to go to Harrods, if not to shop to at least see it, the food center downstairs is fabulous.
I was there with my two daughters and had a lot of fun, we were walking around and got lost couldn't find our hotel so stopped in a police station for directions. I think they thought we were daft.
Will you get to see Carrie maybe?

Karen and I were in London in August. We saw many wonderful things including tours of Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. We even saw the pet department in Harrods. Although it's thoroughly commercial, Hamleys kindles a spark of warmth and wonder for me.

Tourist are always tourists. However, it was different yet still wonderful visiting Beijing last October.

It would be best to email Karen about your suggestions for London or start a new thread.

Does anyone else have any thoughts about the proposed logos?

I think the new logos look great! I noticed many folks would like to see a bunny added. If Karen comes up with a good sketch of one, would it be easy enough to just add it up there with the others?

You're doing a terrific job, Paul and Karen!!! :D

Cinder's jealous ~ With the right coloring, the Dawg could be Smokey! And with tuxedo paint, the Kat could be a *thinner* drawing of Boots!

As for "curiously squished to the left"; could that make room for more images of additional critters? Sorry to make additional work for the Head Bunnie (Mayor) ~ but how about painting a whole string of different pets across the banner? Bunnie, fish, hammy, horse, etc??

Karen's artwork is beautiful - the more images that can be fitted in without crowding - all the better!

Any way you could add a bunny to the logo in addition to the bird, dog & cat?

I like it but I think a bunny would fit in real nicely among the other drawings :)

We were trying to stick with a single animal for each site. I'll have to talk with Paul (in person) about the concept of more than one animal for Pet of the Day's logo.

..to quote Thoreau...simplify, simplify.....

Maybe we're getting confused ? WHICH Pet Talk Logos are we supposed to be talking about??

Cinder & Smoke were thinking that the Logo under discussion was the one at the top of the Pet Talk BBS header "Pet Talk + Bird+Dog+Cat".

THAT one would look nice with a string of critters flowing the rest of the way across the top of the page.

If the present topic is the logos on top of the Pet, Dog, and Cat of the Day pages... Ooops....

THOSE three logos look great too! Are the three line drawings on page 1 of this post going to REPLACE the multi-colored logos on the three "__ of the Day" pages; or be in addition to the present logos??

More work for the Mayor ~ How about a collage of images? Two or three dogs (big, little, fluffy), cats (different colors, length of fur) and multiple "Pets" (bird, wabbit, horse, fish). Each group could be combined into one single frame but with multiple 'faces'.

>> Good work, Dad. Now ebberbuddie's prolly as confused as you are! << Sez Cinder.

Laurie, is this the one you are talking about?http://plauder-smilies.com/happy/roflmao.gif

If so, it is one that you can get from www.plauder-smilies.com
Find the icon you want and copy its address by highlighting the address and pressing control and the C (for copy). Then when you want to put it in the post, press control and V. Whalla

Well, personally I think the dog should have floppy ears, a big head, stockier build, and would be black & tan. :D But, we don't all get our own breed! I think they look great. :)

We are currently discussing the line drawings on page one of this post. They are also incidently shown at the top of Pet Talk, but they are too small to be seen clearly there. That is just a temporary masthead.

As Paul said in a previous post, the plan is as follows:

Step 1 is to create logos that are our own and that people like.
Step 2 is two create color versions.
Step 3 is to place them next to the text "Pet of the Day.com" etc. on a masthead for the home pages.

Right now we are not sure what the masthead will look like but obviously we would like it to be recognizable to the millions of people who have already seen our website over the past four and a half years.

So we're only at Step One, trying to make sure that people like what we have, and that they aren't too similar to some other company's logo.

Once we pass step one and get to Step Two, we will create color versions.

THEN and only then will we redesign anything of what you currently see, either on the Pet Talk bulletin board, or on the home pages for Pet of the Day, Dog of the Day, and Cat of the Day.

To use an animal metaphor, let us not put the cart before the horse, folks! :)

Sorry, there, Chuck, but it's actuallyShentsek (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1998/April/15.html) inside the C, and Goliath (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1998/July/18.html) inside the T!

And yes, I remember their names, each and every one of them. So he doesn't feel left out, it's Apolo (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1998/March/14.html) in the A! :)

POP QUIZ: (and to saturate my curiosity! lol)
"Who" is in POTD & DOTD letters?

Karen
01-21-2002, 10:47 PM
D is Ripley (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1997/September/18.html) , O is Merlin (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1997/September/26.html) and G - which was a hard letter to get anyone to fit gracefully, is Becca (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1998/July/23.html) .

The letters for Pet, though - the P was tricky, and back when we did these heads, we didn't have as many non-dog and non-cat pets to choose from, so only the E is a former Pet of the Day, Emmett (http://PetoftheDay.com/archive/1997/September/05.html) , the birds in the P and the lizard in the T are anonymous.
