Two years ago I tried to quit smoking. Needless to say I didn't:o
I posted a thread stating that Today is the day (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22788&highlight=stop+smoking). Needles to say it wasn't.

But I just wanted to inform those of you that stood behind me and rooted me on that as of today both Mark and I have been smoke free for 10 weeks! I always felt really guilty that I didn't stop sooner since all of you were really trying to help me, but now....I'm a non smoker!
Not that I don't want one every now and then but I'm good and don't backslide. Neither one of us has had even one since the day we said w were quiting.
I am really happy and proud of Mark because he's smoked for almost 30 years!

Just wanted to give a big

to everyone:D

Good for you both! I know it's hard. My dad didn't quit until it was about too late. He had been smoking since he was 15 and was about 60. When he started bleeding out of his eye, that scared him. So, I wish you all the best luck in staying smoke free. You'll start feeling a lot better soon. Your breathing will improve and things will taste better(that can sometimes be bad :p ) We're proud of you both.

Thats GREAT Anna!! I know how hard it is to quit smoking. In fact my husband and I (his name is Mark also) are quitting too.
We are so sick of doing something that costs so much and it's so unhealthy! Did you guys use the patch or anything or did you go cold turkey? I'm so proud of you both. I can't wait until I can say I've been smoke free for 10 weeks. ;)

Congratulations!!! I've never been a smoker, but I've been trying to kick my McDonald's Coke habit and I just can't, so I know what you're going through. My dad quit after probably at least 30 years of smoking too - just went cold turkey and never looked back.

WAY to GO!!!!

Quitting smoking is an extremely difficult thing to do and I applaud anyone who has tried. Yes, you might slip now and then, but take one day at a time. You've both gone 10 weeks.....so now I know you can go another 10 weeks.....then another 10 months.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU!! :)

Congratulations, Anna and Mark! You two have made the best decision. I've been smoke free for 23 years (January 31st, 1982). 10 weeks is quite an accomplishment. Keep it up!

I am quite proud of myself and of Mark too:)

It does seem to be easier now then it was in the beginning. I think just the habit of doing it at certain times or after certain tasks is the hardest (Get in the car...smoke, eat...smoke...etc.). But it is so much easier now, sometimes I hardly even think about it all day! But I'll tell you I have had some dreams about smoking:o:p

Well Mark is using the patches (NicodermCQ) and he is almost out of the 2nd step...WooHoo! Only 1 more step to go:)
But I more or less went cold turkey. There was a few days that I could not for the life of me figure out why I was so mean...duh:rolleyes: so I did buy some of the gum (Nicorette). It did help but I think in total I chewed only 4-5 pieces of it and I have about 100 pieces left:eek: (if anyone is going to try and stop I'd be glad to send you what I have left!).

Just wanted to thank everyone again for being so supportive!
