I know this probably sounds a bit wrong, but our old Oscars are finally gone. When we got them a while back, one's fin already had rot to it. We treated them and treated them, trying so many different things. They just seemed to get worse. One passed a few months ago, and finally the other did this morning. Not only am i'm glad it's out of it's misery, as I declared it "dead" (although we still tried treating it, changing the water and rocks, ect) months ago, but now Earle can have his tank nice without any worries.
Earle has not one thing wrong with him and he's been fine since we got him. I'm guessing it was just something with the Oscars, that the one had from the start and then gave to the other.
It was so sad to see them like this but i'm happy they're out of their misery. Sorry we couldn't do more for you little fishies.
I took some pictures of Earle to share.
He's atleast 3 years old!

Once we clean the tank thouroughly (leaving some yummy algea for Earle, of course) i'm going to look in to getting different fish.
