Hmm..I was out playing with Jo in the snow, well, actually shoveling, and was moving a big chunk of ice I cleared, and Jo attacked it, pawing at it (like digging into it) and chewing on it. I noticed some reddish stuff on it, I figured it was something from under the snow, on the deck. I later got her to bite into a fresh peice and noticed more stuff on it. I looked in her mouth and noticed no bleeding

yep our german shepherd does that all the time. She carries big balls of ice and snow around and there is always blood on it. It usually comes from her gums and sometimes her tounge

Could it be that the ice has made her gums bleed. Louie used to have a toy that we had to take away because he would just go too nuts over it. It was a hard plastic ball. Ice can be sharp so I hope Jo is ok. It probably is her gums though.

I think snow was too cold for Jo's gums or tongue! LOL joking, hope Jo's ok.
