Oh boy! I had the BEST meeting this morning with a former client! They are giving me the largest project they've ever given me since I've been working freelance with them! This client was my one and only client when I worked fulltime as a designer for someone else.
But the best part? Just as I was coming, my ex-coworker was leaving. He waved as we passed by each other in our cars, then turned around. He of course had to find out what I'm up to these days. I told him I'm doing GREAT -- that I've started my own freelance design business and my artwork is taking off. Both are true! I gave him one of my freshly minted business cards and told him how w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l life is these days. He said "wow, you look great. You don't look tense or stressed. You look happy." I felt like saying "well I'm no longer tense or stressed because I'm no longer WORKING WITH YOU!!" But I said "Yup, I'm doing really well and I love working for myself." Gosh I wish I had the guts to tell him what I wanted to say! Do any of you remember me talking of this guy? He's one of the people I wanted to sue for harassment. I'll leave it at that. :mad:
All I can say is this: THANK GOD I got that haircut and new clothes this past week. I'd have hated to be wearing the same old matted hair and ratty twin set sweater. Instead I looked sleek in a new black 3/4 sleeve sweater, camel colored slacks, and golden colored pearls in my ears. I looked great - and it didn't hurt that I've lost about 15 pounds since he saw me last. They aren't kidding when they say "living well is the best revenge" :D
Anyone care to join me in my happy dance? I don't ever remember feeling this empowered! Now... if only I could run into my exboyfriends and rub my happiness in their faces!
