Well a few months ago out of no where while walking the dogs in the field to go potty, I spooted this orange and white tabby in the brush. It was the first time I had seen it and I didn't see it for too long because it was gone in no time. Well a few weeks ago I saw it ago(at the time I didn't know the sex). Each time I saw it I would put food out for it in case it was a stray and it was hungry. Put the 2 or 3 times I had put food out I didn't think it actually ate any of it but I wasn't sure. The last wekk or so I have seen it a few times and yesterday i saw it and I took gracie back in and told it I would be out with some food. When i got out there I thought it had left because I didn't see it but then when i went down to the drain pipe it was there waiting. I shook the bowl of food to let it know that is what I had. It looked interested and didn't run into the drain pipe like it had the other times. So I put the food down and walked off to give him some room to see if he would eat any. He went to the bowl and started eating. I stood back for awhiel so he would eat and I wouldn't scare him off. Then I got closer a couple of feet away. he went into the drain pipe but didn't run away in it put stuck his head out of it and kinda rubber his head on the side of it. I thought this was the purrfect sign he was friendly and wanted to attention but I waited awhile. I talked to him and he came out of the drain and started rubbing all over the tree. I was taking pics through all of this. A few minutes later I held my hand out and he came right up to me. From his few minutes of rubbing his butt, etc all over the tree I could tell he was an unneutered male. He was a smaller cat than I originally thought by only seeing him from a distance before , so I think he is under a year. He was a sweetie , a little jumpy but affectionate with me. I petted him for a few minutes trying to decide what to do about him. I had to be somewhere so I really didn't have time to scoop him up and take him to the vet to get neutered. Plus I wasn't sure if he belonged to anyone and wanted to ask around. I do feel he needs to be neutered first whether he is a stray or belongs to someone. I called my vet to see if she would neuter him if I brought him in. She said yes(although I have no idea where I will be getting the money to do that and also have him combo tested) She said when I get him just to call and bring him in and she will neuter him and maybe she can find him a home. I do know two people from work that i would like to ask if they would adopt him first if it comes to that. if they can't then I will let my vet find him a home if she is able. And if she doesn't have the room to do that, I have no clue what I will do. Hopefully it won't come to that. I hated not being able to take him in right that minute since I don't know when it will be when I see him next. I didn't see hime today so who knows and this week is the perfect time since I an on spring break right now and don't have to work. I did see a neighbor that lives in the house right next to the place where I see the cat and she said she has never seen it before but will keep an eye out and also ask around for me. The only decision I have made for sure about this cat that I am now calling Scooter( just to have something to call him other than orange and white stray) is next time I see him he is going to get neutered . anyway, I am going to try and put some pics in here and hoipefully it will work.

He has to be someones PET!! He just looks far to healthy and well kept to be a stray! If he is a stray, you better snatch him up before someone else does... He is a KEEPER!

Thats what I am leaning to but who knows. There are so many apts near me and people move and leave their cats behind. If he is someones pet they should have had him neutered. I will keep asking around and maybe will find out

Melissa, He's so handsome!!! I rescued a cat from a pipe last year that I named "Piper" lol! I agree he looks very clean and healthy to be a stray...almost looks neutered to me! Not that I can see his butt, but he doesn't have those huge jowls, or fight wounds from what I can see. Sure hope things go well for the handsome guy. Glad you found him, and vice-versa! Ship him to Carla! :D :D She doesn't have an orange and white one right now. ;) :D

He could be,as you suugest,a Pet,but could have been just recently abandoned,as is not,as yet truly hungry,or dirty.At least,he trusts you,and you,can find,hopefully,his old home,or a New Furr Ever Home.Michael,is shocked,that any one,would leave An Orange Cat,alone like that!

Ohhh what a sweet ORANGIE!!!

Good for you for taking the time to care about this little guy! Pet or stray, he DOES need to get neutered ASAP! I thought my Spooky kitty was someones pet too as she was really willing to be affectionate but was really skittish at the same time. Maybe it's a younger cat thing? I hope he finds a great furrever home or finds the one he came from *and hopefully his people will be a little more careful about letting him outside if he already has a home*

Well, as of today I haven't seen Scooter again. I really hate these kind of situations where I don't know if the cat belongs to someone or not. I would never want to take someones cat(unless of course they were abusing it) but at the same time I don't want to not help this cat if he needs it. I know just because he is healthy and clean looking and friendly towards me doesn't mean he belongs to someone or hasn't been abandoned. I keep going back and forth with this. I know at the lvery least this boy needs to be neutered( and Jan I saw his family jewels very clearly the other day! LOL) And I think he is a young cat that is why he doesn't have battle wounds yet or the big jowls. All I know is he is a sweetheart. And Carla, I think everyone should have at least one in each color! LOL I will keep a watch out for him and hopefully he will show up when I can get him to the vet.
