Smokey & Maggie went out last night for last potty about
8:30pm. After about 20 minutes, I went to call them in. Maggie
was sitting by the garage door at the end of the yard, She wouldn't move at all. She kept crying and trying to stand up
but would drop down again. I freaked out & thought of Buddy's
ACL injury.:( She weights 64 lbs and is a little hard to carry, but
I managed to get her inside. She was so upset & crying.

I couldn't see any obvious limp or injury, but on checking her out
I found a bunch of rope-like stuff sticking out of her back end. :(
She obviously tried to pass something & it was stuck,I was afraid
to pull it out b/c I wasn't sure what it was or if it was attached
to her insides.

I called the Emergency Vet & got her in & the Dr. removed the
stuff. He said it looked like a plastic bag, or saran wrap & food
all wrapped together. She is fine now, but she scared me half
to death.
The Vet Tech, said "That's a Lab for you".:)

Oh, wow. My heart was beating a mile a minute. Maggie
is being a velcro doggie today. I've never seen her so scared
before. It must have hurt her a lot.:(

Lizbud, I hate to ask this...but how did the vet get it out....? Did he/she give Maggie any pain medication?

Oh Liz, I can understand you were scared - and poor Maggie, it must have hurt. :( Glad she got it out and is happy again. :)

I had some pain medicine left over from Maggie's spay surgery
so I gave her half in tablet with bread before she saw the Vet.
Thank heavens she ate it & it was taking effect before she saw
the Doctor. The Vet just pulled it out gently & then did an exam
with gloved hand to remove a few bigger pieces of junk. The
minute she got down off the exam table, she acted 100%
better. She could walk normally & seemed like her old self again.

Oh Liz, you must have been so freaked out! :( That's so scary, and I'm glad that she's doing better now.

These labs do love to eat anything and everything, don't they??? I'm always so scared that something like this is going to happen.

LOL.:D Evidently.

Indianapolis has had strong winds the last few days & it's blown
every piece of loose trash from miles around to the yard fence.
Maggie loves to drag all the paper over to her side & tear it up.

Of all times for something weird to happen, it had to be a Sunday night & nobody around but me.Maggie & I took a nap
this afternoon to recover. :D

Maggie, don't scare your mommma like that!!!

I don't know what it is with th PT puppers lately, there have been quite a few incidents with the back half of them lately...tails and rear-ends all. Sadie had to go to the vet Saturday morning becuase she hurt her tail at dayschool on Friday. She also had her glands emptied while she was there, and is now on anti-inflammatories.

Hope you and Maggie both are feeling better today!

Oh, poor Maggie! And you! How scary it is when our dogs are acting weird and we don't know why. And how scary it would be to find something foreign coming out of them. Glad to here everything "came out" fine "in the end." (Sorry!)
