I finally did it! I haven't had much time but I started getting sick yesterday. I couldn't sleep, felt miserable, and decided to do something more valuable than whining.;)

I had this brushed polyester cloth and decided to try it for a cat bed. I made the first one way bigger than I meant too. I cut it 20" x 20" but that material is really stretchy so it came out even bigger than that!
I put the first one on the TV room floor to see what the kitties thought and Leroy nailed it within seconds.

This morning I finally got it moved from the middle of the floor and Abigail decided she wanted to try it out. She looks so tiny on it!

While that one was occupied I made another one to throw on the couch. Of course Leroy wanted that one too. It soon became apparent that Magoo really liked it as well. Leroy had it first so I'm not sure how Magoo managed to get this much space.

I noticed that Magoo was jumping up on the opposite side of the bed and climbing in. I knew if I made the same roll type for the other end of the couch Magoo may have trouble jumping up with the roll right in the front so I tried another type of bed. I left it open in the front so Goo can jump up there without any problems.

While the boys were eating the girls stole both beds!

I think I have enough of the other material left over to make an open one for the end of the couch and I will move the other open one somewhere else. At least then they will match.;)

I just sewed and tied off the roll ends, then fringed them. I think it's kind of cute. At least Magoo will be able to walk into one like that without tripping over the front roll.

I feel like crud but at least I got something done. I've made three beds and I'm probably going to make another one or two tonight.
Thanks to all of you who made these and gave the instructions. It's fun to watch the babies enjoy something you've made yourself. Mine sure are being used!

Lisa, those beds are FANTASTIC!!!!

That brushed polyester one looks so luxurious. I can't get over how small the girls look in it compare to the boys and of course the picture with Leroy and Magoo is just too darn adorable.

I just love how you put Magoo's needs first (as if you wouldn't)
and made the other one with an opened end. FABULOUS!!!!

I hope you feel better real soon. :)

Thta bed,with the oopen,end,is a very good idea,for a Cat,like Scrappy Magoo.I know,that the Princess,who has lost,her sight,is still climbing,and jumping,but one day,may need an easirer bed.But she has been here,long enough,to get,where she has,to go,as long as I dont change anything.

Those look FANTASTIC!! I love the crushed velvety material. That looks cozy enough for me to curl up on (and large enough too! ;) )

What a great idea for Magoo. I'm sure he loves it.

Great job Lisa! That orange bed looks sooooo cushy! I just love it!

I have only made one so far . . . you learn a lot just by making one. I think my next one will be easier, hopefully, if I ever get back to it! It's harder than it looks! LOL And that's coming from someone that loves to sew!

Looks like they're cat approved! ;)

Me too! I tried making a kitty bed, but ended up getting frustrated and making a pillow. :p I guess sewing just isn't my thing. ;)

And since no one noticed....

Nice tassels!:D ;)

WOW , Lisa!! Those beds are FANTASTIC!! I really love that one with the "open" end!! Lucky Magoo :)

I will start sewing soon too now, with the gorgeous fabric Debbie sent me!! It will be somewhere next week, as my daughter gets ear-surgery this thursday... . I will also have to convert the measures into centimeters, as I don't have a measurer in inches:rolleyes: ;)

Amazing kitty beds -- and created while you were sick, too! I'm humbled by your commitment and skill, lol! I have absolutely no talent in the sewing arena and I'm so impressed at those gorgeous kitty beds, each one the perfect snuggle spot for a loved furbaby.

Way to go!

Same here! I somehow failed that class.
The cat beds look great. I love the fabric and color.

I love the open ended ones, I don't remember seeing a pattern for square beds. Is it the same instructions as the round one ?

I'll have to dust of my sewing machine and have a go myself next weekend :)

Richard, only you my friend! Yes, I'm proud to say that I tend to think outside the "condom"!:D

For those of you wondering why I made them square
1) It's easier then trying to keep it round
2) Most of the cat condoms I have bought are rectangular
3) They fit the couch cushions better and cover more space.

Same instructions as the round ones but I do round off the corners so it's easier to sew. When I stuff the tube I put a wad of stuffing in and use my yard stick to push it to the back of the roll.
The open end one is made the same way but with the tube only sewn to three sides.
Also, when I stuffed the actual bed part I tufted the bottom so that when they get washed the stuffing won't shift and ball up.

There are no bounderies or set rules when making these. You are free to make them any size or shape you want. Just go for it and have fun!:D :D :D

Well .... this is Magoo's "way" of getting back at Leroy for all his antics the other day (your thread where Leroy was picking on everyone! LOL) Leroy finally gets a little taste of his own medicine, huh?

But GREAT beds !!! I could never sew like that.
