I have posted these pics before, they are available to buy some in the UK some in USA, but you could easily adapt your's and make a home-made version.

Oh ok, sorry I assumed bunny was an outside bunny, as in my country I have yet to see an indoor bunny, we get rather hot here too and humid, I was a diligent owner alway's making sure bunny was in the shade or shifting her cage around all day long, it was on castor wheels, but then not everyone is, so if you want an indoor cage , perhaps they are not quite as suitable, maybe you could adapt them a little to suit indoors, good luck, search the net, you will come up with many ideas for sure.:)

Wolfsoul, I was wondering how that holds up with the urine? Did you apply a lot of coats of paint or are the sleves made out of plastic or what?

tho i cant really see, is there a litter box? ppls small pets that can use a litter box, you really dont need much for bottom, to catch urine, my bunnies use litter box. they pee in it mostly tg, they leave their poos in too, but they still leave territorial droppings, but tg, its not a mound, lol.

I painted it with non-toxic water-based polyurethane paint sealer. :) I applied 5 coats, but it does seem to be wearing off some. I should probably get some more.

Yup, they have a litter box, though I need to get another one. For some reason they don't like to use it for peeing, only pooping, so I figure if I get another maybe they will use one for peeing and the other for pooping.

Was it expensive or time consuming to build? I really like it and it would be better to have a cage like that for our bunny than the one she has now. (because of the space her current cage takes up. )

My cage cost me almost $200 to build, so it was quite expensive. I built it from scratch, so I had to buy all of the wood, and then I had to buy the wire and the paint sealer, nails, locks, etc. I can't really make an accurate guess about how time-consuming making a cage would be, as I didn't work on mine very often. Only about an hour every second day, plus I had to sand the wood and everything. So all in all it took me a few months. It really doesn't take up too much room -- it's pretty much all height. Five feet! :D

$200? Wow.

It is nice though. Do your bunnies use all the levels?

I may have to get creative and build something like it. ;)

Wolfsoul, do you find that it is smelly? Or starting to get smelly now that the sealer is wearing off?

You keep rats in yours right?

How do they get to each level? Or are they all seperate levels?

Oh, it's for rats, not bunnies. :o

wolfsoul

Yup, they are rats lol. :)

I don't find that the cage is any more smelly. I keep it very clean though -- I just love having a cage that is so easy to clean. I open the door, vaccuum up any poop, bedding, or leftover food, I spray, wipe, and it's done!

There is a hole in each shelf, so they can go up and down. However, they are silly, and don't use the holes very often to go up (they use them going down though). They would rather climb up the wire and squeeze themself in between the wire and the shelf. My last rats just used the holes though. They pretty much ignore the climbing things I hang under the holes and jump.

it is in a closet space and is 6 feet long by 2 feet wide and the gate is 3 feet I think? I dont remeber lol and its 3 feet high Kari is lazy and not one to jump it, she CAN, she has done it 3 times total but I can place in her in 1 gride high pen and she wont jump it, if she wants out she will try to open it by shifting it around then will walk out lol

My mom just told me my cage didn't cost almost $200 lol.

The wood was around $60, the building supplies around $30, and the wire and paint sealer were $50. So that's about $140 Can.

I use a really big wire dog crate that I got almost new from my Grandma, she kept her cat there when he was sick. ( I really don't know why she kept him in there:confused:  )
