Of course I wrap my dog's presents! Who doesn't?? I think everyone should, because they are a part of your family, too! It's like wrapping your kid's presents, you always do, so why not for your pets?? http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif My dog loves it when I wrap her presents, because then, she can open them! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I never get a chance to wrap them, cause instinctively, Cody knows when I bring him something. He goes to the exact grocery bag for the treats and if it's a toy from the pet store, he's on it before I even open the bag. He gets SO excited, like a little kid that I just give it to him. Now he expects something everytime I come home with a bag!!!

You bet I wrap their presents!!! I don't have any human kids yet so I have not yet burned out of the whole wrapping experience as many parents do from what I have been told http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I wrap them because I love to wrap and also because it gives me more presents to unwrap (Graham is too much of a gentleman to unwrap it himself, even tho I assure him it's ok to do so). This will be my first Christmas with Cassie the pug so I'll find out if she can open her own present http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I have spoiled my dogs so much that I have no idea what to get them for Christmas! It's going to be harder to shop for my dogs then my husband this year, due to the over-abundance of stuff they already have! When I adopted Cassie, I bought so much stuff because she never had ANYTHING in her last home to play with. I went overboard buying booda velvets and booda chips and bimples bones and stuffed animals, sweaters for both dogs, new booties for Graham, a new doggie bed...I think I spoiled them too much this year. They still have all kinds of chew-things scattered around the house. What the heck can you buy for dogs that have EVERYTHING???

Think I'll just wrap up one of the many toys they have scattered around the house this year http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

My dogs are like Karen's dog I don't even get a chance to get the toy out. I swear they have memerized what the pet store bag looks like. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

I'm getting a complex....do you really buy a Christmas present and wrap it for your pet? I love mine dearly, but everytime I read a post about all these extra things everyone does...grooming daily, giving extra vitamins, wrapping presents, putting lotion on the feet, it depresses me. I simply don't have time to do everything! People tell me all the time how spoiled my pets are, from the dogs down to the hamsters, but I feel totally inadequate based on the comments you guys make. Do you all have kids? I feel like a taxi cab, slave, etc. because of my child and job, plus the time I spend on my animals. I feed them everyday, walk them as often as possible, talk with them all day, love them a lot, keep their shots up to date and take them to the vet if they sneeze, but I do NOTHING compared to a lot of you. I just have to do better, that's all. I definitely think my animals are lovely and happy, but maybe they could be better with an organized regimen. I'm going to try!!!!!

Actually, Logan, I think you are more the norm, and I certainly wouldn't feel guilty that you don't rub lotion into your pet's toes. If you provide good, healthy food and clean water, a safe place out of the heat, rain and cold, and responsible medical care, you're already doing a lot more than alot of pet owners do. This and a generous dose of scritches is enough to make any pet feel loved. The rest is just gravy; frankly, I give my pets treats because I think it's fun, I truly don't for a minute think that they understand what is going on. And you're right, the busier and larger a household is, the more the pets take a back seat. I hope you're not really as distressed as your post sounded to me (maybe you're writing it tongue-in-cheek?), because I can guess from your previous posts that you are a loving, responsible pet owner. Just because other folks might be a little sillier (and I used that word as a loving, not a derogatory, term) doesn't for a minute mean you need to examine your petcare habits! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the reassurance. I just love all of those girls to death! I just can't do as much as I would like to. I definitely think that I have spared no expense to make sure they are well cared for, even Evelyn and Phoebe, the hamsters, who I play with every night before I go to bed. That's the only time they are awake to pay any attention to them!
I sure hope I'm doing ok from Helen through Evelyn, and everyone in between!

Hi Logan,

You are a wonderful pet owner, I can see the love gushing from all of your posts! It just so happens that I don't have any human kids to spoil yet so I can focus all my attention and "silliness" to my furkids. And I keep telling Graham that one day he may have a little brother or sister human baby to protect and when that day comes he'll may not get all the silly extra stuff that he gets now (lotion on paws, skijoring, buying and wrapping of presents, way too many toys and chew things) but I will love him just as much http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Logan!!

You're a wonderful mom, to everyone! I don't have skin-kids, but have the 6 fur-kids, and they keep me very busy. I do all sorts of things with them from pet visitation to obedience, and have fun doing it. I do for them what you do for Helen. You have your priorities right...children before pets.

Logan~
Yes, I really buy my dog a present, but don't worry! Just because you don't buy your dog/cat ECT a presebt, doesn't mean you don't love them! I am as busy as you are with everything, and I just think that it is fun to get my dog a present. Don't beat yourself up, or be guilty. I'm sure your pets will love you all the same! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

My dog is exactly like yours Karen. I have to keep them all in my room, so she doesnt get into them! When I got done wrapping presents last night, which took me forever, Breezy got into hers, because she could smell what was in each package, so i had to fix them all! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif She is so funny!

You guys are so sweet!! Believe me, I know I could do more, but I'm sure all of my girls get a lot more attention and love than a lot of the pets in the world. What mama goes in and holds the hamsters that her daughter just had to have every night? In fact, those hamsters live in my office, so guess who gets to clean their cages when they start smelling? My girls are well adjusted and get treats year round, so you're right, I'm not going to feel too guilty just because I don't wrap presents for each of them. I can't go to the stores that sell pet toys without picking up something for them. I wish you all could meet them, lovely puppies, kitty and hamsters.
