I have a little variation on this one! How about if you have your pet in your lap and they are sleeping peacefully and you want to get up. Do you? http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif I hope I am not the only one who stays seated. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Me too, Pam! I can't bear to get up if my cat is nice and comfy-cozy in my lap. I'd feel like I was being rude to her! Also, if the phone rings and kitty's in my lap, I often let the answering machine pick up! Now that's pretty bad. I hate to admit to people when I call them back that, sorry, I WAS home, I just had a cat in my lap and I couldn't get to the phone! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif

Margaret I loved your note and don't think we are too unusual. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif A snoozing kitty in my lap is one of my favorite things, especially after a bout of purring before they actually drift off. If I am watching TV and there is a commercial (and my kitty is asleep in my lap) I don't head off to the kitchen for a snack, so they may also be good for weight loss!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

There is a rule in our house.. first come..stays..cat or human... Our friends think were nuts.. but the cats were there first. When I work on my computer, I have a cat that has to run infront of me to get the chair... yes I let him stay, I just perch on the very end.. I'm sure it's a game he plays just to see if he's the boss or not... he is!

My dogs usually sleep on the couch, no problem there. But the cats sometimes do sit in my recliner, and I do get them to move...usually onto my lap! One lap, 4 cats..doesn't work too well sometimes! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

As I'm reading this, I'm twisted into a very unnatural posture, because Pepper was in the chair before me so I'm perched onto the side edge. I also do all the other things - let the phone ring, put off going to the bathroom, etc., if someone is snoozing in my lap. We have lots of seating and snoozing places, though, so I seldom have to find another place to sit, but I would if I had to.

I don't mind sharing the chair with one dog, but two can get a little cramped. If I'm sitting in the chair trying to read the paper with one dog at my side, the other will come and sit directly on top of the paper. There is no reasoning with him either.

Lol, this is so funny thread! Yes! I understand all how you guys feel! Sometimes Zephyra would just sit on me...but when I was ready and start to sit down but in wrong position because I wasn't finished! (one foot under my buttocks) but she came up on me so quickly...I would just freeze up.."Okay, Zephyra...it's all yours" She just went and dozed off...what a wonderful result: A SLEEPY FOOT! AHHHHHHH! I, obviously rather having a cat cuddling me than having a sleepy foot...  :D

Also when I was starving for some cravings (chocolate )...As for me..It's a MUST for me to eat some when I want some...sometimes I thought of chocolate when I was sitting and watching some TV...Zephyra's already on my laps...I was like "ah, didn't see her getting on my lapsland...okay..now I can't get my chocolaty bars- waa waah" then I could finally get my treasures about four or five hours later!  :D

Oh my god this is all too familar. If Minnie is on me FORGET IT I dont move. Not pee, eat, drink, sneeze, change the channel, answer the phone, nothing *LOL* And when I DO make a move to get up, she is so smart not to jump off me that I end up just parking my butt right back down

now I will get the reputation of being a "cat scrooge" but if the cat is on the chair or bed that I want to be on, I move them. I always say to them "you can sit on me, but I cannot sit on you". Now if I am in a chair and they are asleep on me, I use the reason I need to get up as a judgement call. I will move them if I must but if it can wait then I let them stay.

Our dogs aren't allowed on the furniture, except for the bed. My favorite thing is when my husband goes to work early, and they both cuddle up next to me in bed---I won't move no matter what, not even to go to the bathroom.
