I'm practically bouncing off the walls with excitement! The Middle TN Anime Convention is this weekend! I've got my costume ready, and all that's left is to get the camera batteries charged.

I plan on being out the door at an "How can you be functional at that time on a Saturday" 5 am est, and should (provided I don't get lost) arrive at the Millenium Maxwell House hotel at about 7:30 central. (Admittedly, registration won't start until 9 central, but it'll give me time to find parking, hunt breakfast, and get in line before there's a line). And I don't plan on heading back home until late late late!

From what I've gathered from the website, it looks like there's going to be lots to do. There are a few panels that I'm hoping are all on Saturday and not at conflicting times:

Anatomy for Artists
Inking Workshop
Eastern Swordstyle (Woo! Watching people with sharp, pointy objects!)

Oh! And the Kimono Show! That'll be so cool to see!

If any PTer's want to get together, I promise I'll be easy to spot (as this picture of my costume at an incomplete stage will show)!

:D you found the wig! Lookin' good!

They had an Anime convention at the hotel where I park my car a few weeks ago. I loved walking through the lobby and seeing all the wonderful costumes and people just generally having fun! One of the Pokemon costumed ones stood on the street corner and waved to people as they passed by, however a great photo-op was missed as Pokemon fell off the curb (didn't hurt him/herself, but was embarassed and acted funny, jumping around, throwing his/her hat :) ) I'm sure a fun time was had by all and will be had by all at the one you're going to.

Yep! Found the wig! They style is a little off still, but I'll risk mutilating it next convention.

The costumes are definitely one of the neatest parts of a convention - for folks both in and out of costume. I love seeing what people come up with! I know mine'll be kind of dinky compared to some, but those'll be the people who've been doing the costume thing for a long time. For a second sewing project (and without a pattern, at that), I'm rather pleased with how the shirt came out.

The last one of these conventions I was at, there was someone dressed as the same character I was, and his costume was so amazing that I felt a little blah about mine. And then someone asked if I'd ordered the coat that I'd made and that cheered me right up.

I ought to dig out some of the pics from Anime Weekend Atlanta. And I'll definitely post MTAC pics when I get back from it!

Just thought I'd share a few pics from the last convention I went to (back in September, so very long ago!). These things are so much fun!

That's...me...

I still can't believe that the one on the right wasn't wearing a wig!

Awesome! I'm so jealous! I want to go to an anime convention so bad, but there aren't any anywhere near here :( They look so fun! (plus I'm very obsessed with anime and Japanese)

I didn't think there were many anime conventions around here either, and then I discovered http://www.fansview.com/consked.htm

I'm not sure where in Canada you are, but I see a couple of cons on the schedule up there. You might be able to find some cons that are close to you.

These conventions are definitely a blast. Even if you're just wandering aimlessly, there's always something interesting to see!
