View Full Version : INTRODUCING Baxter and Redfurd...

Two kitties I saved from our high kill shelter this week. They are both approx. a year and a half. Baxter is already neutered, and Redfurd will be neutered on Tuesday. Unfortunately though, he has the URI, but if I hadn't saved him, he would have been PTS immediately upon it being noticed!!!:( I was at the "shelter" for over 2 hours and while I was there, you wouldn't believe the people coming in wanting kittens ONLY! It was all I could do to "only" take these two!:( My work will never be done .... but I am definitely going to focus on adult kitties from now on as much as possible. The tiny babies (unless weak / motherless) find homes all by "themselves"!;)

This is Baxter (not to be confused with look-a-like brother Dexter):

Baxter is a big love bug, just like Dexter!

Now for Redfurd .... not too perky with the URI for now:

Redfurd was obviously dumped outside, his fur is all oily and very matted ... something yucky is stuck all in his tail too. Once he is feeling better, and over his neuter, he will be getting a bath!

Oh Kim . . . you're forever my hero!

After everything you've been through and you are still such a softie!

I am so glad to hear that you saved both of these babies! I don't think I'd be able to pass up the URI baby either. That high kill shelter just sounds horrible!

You're so wonderful, Kim! I really do respect you . . . just please remember to take care of yourself before anything else!

;)

Thanks everyone! The support is a welcome relief. My love for kitties and the desire to help them, is something that God has blessed me with, and the one true purpose that I know I was created for. That will never change!;)

Oh Kim!!! I am simply thrilled to see you save these two sweethearts! Redfurd is destined to find a great home because you cared enough to save him!

And what is it about people who only want kittens that makes my blood boil? Don't they know that within months, they are no longer a cute and fluffy kitten, but a nawtee teenager?

God bless you for taking these two beautiful (Maine Coon?) kitties in. Of course I've fallen in love with Redford as he looks SO much like my Mishi. You can see him smiling in this picture:

Thanks for asking, Lori!;)

I just got back from picking Redfurd up from his neuter. He was tested this a.m. and was NEGATIVE for both aids and leukemia!!! I was worried since he has had the sniffles and not been overly energetic since I got him. He is still very drunk from his neuter ... the new woman vet uses some other type drug ... I THOUGHT the owner vet was doing the surgery ... I hate when they change on you! Anyway, he is negative and home now with antibiotics for his URI ... so he should be fine.

Baxter is doing fine ... he is a big baby, and a complete love bug!;)

Whew... so glad to hear their tests came back negative. Now all you have to do is nurse him back to health and people will be lining up outside your door wanting him!

You ole softie Kim. :D What can I say that others haven't already.

Thank you and bless you for rescuing these two gorgeous boys.

Thank goodness I don't live close to you as Redfurd would be #6 in this household.

Glad to hear that all went well at the vets and prayers on the way that Baxter gets well real soon.
