I can't complain. Where I live the average highs are in the 60s. I do look forward to spring and summer outings, softball, fishing, and boating out to the islands. Of course in July when the heat index is 100+ I'll be wishing for winter. By the way, welcome to Pet Talk and what a cute name! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I don't really care that it's 17 deg. F. below zero today, or that the Groundhog told us that we will have a longer winter. I just wish it was a holiday that allowed us the day off like New Years' Day and Independence Day!

The temp read 78 this noon, not bad for winter, thats the plus the minus is we could be in a blackout any time. Good ole California.

I think we get less snow in our region than we did years ago. Also the snow seemed so much deeper when I was a child, but then again my legs were shorter! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

Well, Groundhog Day has always been kind of a distant, foreign concept to me, anyway. Having been born and raised mostly in Texas, almost exclusively in the southern part of the country, I have never seen winter last six weeks beyond February 2nd!

As a Limey, I don't know the background to Groundhog day. I've seen the film, (which was brilliant!). So, I know you've got an animal that predicts the weather. My questions are;
1. Is it real?
2. What's a Groundhog anyway?
3. How long has it been doing this?
4. How did it get the job?
5. Is it a hereditery post (like the Lords in the UK)?
6. How accurate is it?
7. What exactly does it tell you?
8. Who does it tell it to?
9. How does it tell you what's going to happen, something about a shadow???
10. Is it male or female?
11. Does it have a name?

Spencer, you like lists and are very well informed, perhaps you could illuminate me please?

I personally, LOVE Groundhog Day! The logical reason why is because Groundhog Day is my birthday! (And I also like the animal http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif) I want an early Spring! I am absouloutly SICK of Winter! Hopefully it will be Spring soon.
