I've heard of people getting rid of their pets because they don't match the new carpet or sofa, so what if you get new furniture and the pillow doesn't match, do you take it to the pound? Seems kinda morbid to me.

Yuck. Thats as bad as my gramdmother. She was taking care of my sister's chinchilla while my sister is serving time and the chinchilla died. She had Duncan skinned so she could keep his pelt. Gross! My sister shall never know, and I shall never look at my grandma the same way. Who skins their pet:confused:

YIKES - I didn't read the article but I'm guessing by everyone's reactions what it is about.

We make jokes sometimes about how Joxer's fur is so soft that he'd be a great pair of gloves.  But of course I would never ever actually do such a thing.

That's so wrong. I saw a talk show a really long time ago and there were people there that had freeze dried their pets. That was a little strange, too. Now, if I had the thousands of dollars it took to pay for mummification, I would seriously have Duke done into a statue. I think it costs $10,000. I need to check the facts but I think it's done at the University of Gainesville.
I found this site: http://www.summum.org/mummification/pets/
Prices are $6,000 to $128,000  Guess I wouldn't get that done anytime soon.(hopefully not anyway since Duke should have a lot of years left)

I know the government had a lot of coats recalled because the collars were made out of dog hair. I think they came from China or Russia. People were taking the coats back. They didn't like the idea of wearing dog fur. Fake fur is just finevwith me, thank you.

I personally wouldn't do it because I'd get sad everytime I saw it.

I know someone that had their cat stuffed because they said they just couldn't part with her. It's posed as if it's sleeping in a ball and they placed her near the fireplace. If you didn't know it was really their cat, you'd think it was one of those fake ones.

I collect and restore old stuffed animals, like teddy bears, especially the old ones made of mohair. One of my friends bought a stuffed toy dog on Ebay, and asked me to clean it for her, because it smelled bad. So, I get this dog, thinking it is an old mohair toy .... ummmm, no. I was an at-one-time-alive wire fox terrier that someone had stuffed when it died. I was LOSING IT.
