I live in such a beautiful part of the country and thought I'd share some pics I've been meaning to post! We're lucky in that Cape Cod has not only ocean, but the sound (south side) Cape Cod Bay (north side, where I live) lots of lakes, kettle ponds, marshes, creeks, etc. If you like water, we've got it; all kinds! The beach shots are from a beach about a 10 min. walk from my house. The lake a few minutes drive. Some are of the herring run (should be running soon!) some from the marsh down to a beach which is nationally protected and a few are from the blizzard in Jan. 36 inches!

The Cape Playhouse behind my house. It's the oldest summer theatre in the country. Fun to see photos of all the BIG stars that use to perform there in the summer, e.g. Jimmy Stewart, Bette Davis! And there were no hotels, so they just stayed at the homes of the locals!

The Cape Cinema, on the grounds of the Playhouse. It's a converted church, our local movie theatre!:) Big arm chairs with doilies for seating with an awesome mural painted on the ceiling. Everyone brings homemade goodies to serve at the showing, for free:D

Such lovely photos, thanks for sharing. That sure isn't the Cape Cod one sees from within the traffic on Route 6 any summer weekend! With all that water, it's no wonder it's Retriever Land! ;) Right, Star?

Thanks everybody:D You're right Karen about the traffic and tourists! That's why Fall and Spring are the best seasons for us residents! Star, love water??? Nah!:D

Freckles, my dream is to live on an island off Puget Sound! lol! My husband says I'd go nuts with all the rainy days:(

I was just telling my husband today that we live in an aesthetically challenged part of the country. After seeing your pictures I realize even more how true that is. I know you have had your hardships during the Nor'easterns this winter, but my God, during the rest of the year, you are in HEAVEN. This kind of landscape is sufficient to replentish one's spirit and restore one's soul. I'm getting peace and joy just looking at these pictures. What must it be like to live in such a place? Is there such a thing as more beauty than one absorb and still be standing? I think I might faint from the sheer magnitude of it all.

What fabulous photos! Cape Cod is somewhere I would like to visit, it always looks gorgeous. It has such natural beauty. I particularly love your photos of the buildings though. They are so typical of the area. I would love to see a film in your cinema and sample everyone's home made goodies. :D

Aw Sandra, you live in a beautiful part of the US!! When we lived in the US, we've visited lots of different places; and my conclusion is: the USA are beautiful!!! I've never been to Cape Cod. We have a friend who works there at a "nature" centre, I don't know the correct name (he lives in Philadelphia).

The pictures really are stunning, Sandra! What a nice surprise to see this morning!!! :) :)

I recognize some of those places, especially the playhouse and theater. :) And I had a nice memory as I looked at the pictures of the Herring Run because I think one of our first instant messaging conversations, years ago, now, was on Easter Sunday and you were going to go watch the herring run that afternoon. Do you remember that? :)

I loved our visit there, and we will come back again, one day, for sure. :)

I think you and Andrew would have a blast, Souraya! Lots of great places to hike, nature trails and conservation areas and the kayaking, canoeing and swimming is great, of course! Sorry, no rock climbing though:D But the dunes at the Natl. Seashore (THANK YOU PRES. KENNEDY!) will give you quite a workout!:)

Jennifer, while Souraya and Andrew are off working up a sweat, the rest of us can kick back on the beach and have a clambake:D

You had better watch out, Sandra, or we'll all be camping out on your doorstep come summer!!!! ;) Or maybe we could just pull the dreaded camper up there and stay in your driveway? LOL!!!!!

All I can tell you "Cape Cod" wannabees, make sure you take clothing for all seasons. Surprises in weather do happen and when Helen and I went, all prepared for the cool temps (looked forward to them too), it was almost 100ยบ every day!! Sandra swears she will never live down that record making week in Cape Cod's history!!! :) :p

I KNEW Logan was going to bring that up!:D:D:D You are never going to let me live that down! Between Karen mentioning the horrific summer traffic and now the unbearable heat, I don't think I should worry about anyone visiting anytime soon!:D;) Now if you remember dear friend, it actually never hit 90; I think the high was 88, but the humidity was awful:D
