I bought my very first car on friday night, from Carmax in Naperville. It's a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. It looks like this...

that's a pic from online, since I haven't had time to take pics of my baby yet. its got power everything, alloy wheels, sunroof, new sterio system, fog lights, duel pipes and a spoiler. It's the greatest thing I've ever bought in my life! and it was only $7,000! very excellent!

what was ur first car?:D

My very first car was a 1992 Toyota Corolla, I called her "Bessie"- haha!

I now have a 1997 white Chevy Cavalier coupe, I love it A LOT! It has power everything, cruise control, brand new stereo system, etc. I want to buy a new back bumper and spoiler- but I have other things that I need to purchase first (like a new bow) then I can buy the car accessories, lol.

Nice car!!!

My first car was a 1982 Oldsmobile Firenza. I had it for about a year, and by that time it wouldn't go in reverse anymore and was only running on 3 of its 4 cylinders. It would go into convulsions at about 50 miles a hour. But it got me to and from school for that year :D

This is basically what it looked like, but mine was green

That's a nice looking car! Ok. No jokes about age. Here was my first car, except it was blue. A 1977 Honda Civic that was $900. My brother helped me buy it.

My first car was a 93-ish grey chevy cavalier; it was brought brand new by my cousin who subsequently never changed the oil ( ) and blew the motor ( ). My dad bought it for $500 and replaced the motor.

When I graduated high school ('98), he bought me a '96 white chevy corisca. It lasted me 1/2 thru my sr. year of college.

As an early college graduation present, he bought me a '01 Nissan Sentra. Drove it off the lot with 13 miles! :D Power everything, CD, etc etc etc. I LOVED that car.

ANNNDDDD.... Just YESTERDAY, *I* bought my first car! :D

'05 EX Special Edition Honda Civic
Spoiler, Moonroof, 6 disc changer, MP3 player, power everything... I drove it off the lot with 6 miles on it. I have to call on Monday and set up an appointment to get the XM radio transferred from my Sentra to this one. Otherwise, it's good to go!

The car that I consider *my first car* was a white 1962 Impala SS. Although technically I did drive an older plymouth our family had acquired prior to that, this was the one that was really mine. http://www.dealsonwheels.com/database/cars/000069-200501-000004big.jpg
I loved that car and wish so much that I had some pictures of the actual vehicle.

Congratulations to you Kari and to you, Tonya. What exciting news. I'm so happy for the both of you.

Kari, I'm going to be looking for you now as we drive around the Ti-Cities. If you see an old lady (in a blue Toyota Highlander) craning her neck as we go past, that will probably be me.

The first car with my name included on the title is my little 90-something Nissan Bluebird. They don't sell them in the states, so it's kind of special, but looks like a Volvo or something:D :D

This might give you all a laugh, my first car was a Standard Ten, a very old little car, that I purchased with my girlfriend for $300 dollars, she was teaching me to drive, I was 17 at the time, unfortunately we went our separate ways, and I still donot drive to this day.:(

BTW your new car is awesome, my dream car is a Ford Cabriolet.

Do you just not choose to drive, or can't? :(

I don't *own* my car, since it's my parents, but the car that I drive is a 1993 Mercury Villager. It's a tan minivan, basically. I call it "The Sexy Beast" only because it is a hot car and everyone's jealous. :p

Okay...the first car I drove was a 1965 Dodge Dart. It had been my grandfather's, my father's, my brother's. The gas gauge didn't work and my father had disconnected the radio and the cigarette lighter...

In college I bought a 1960 Ford Fairlane...had "fins" no radio and a HAND CHOKE!!!! I had to have seat belts put in.... I bought it for $175...drove it to Arizona where it was a BLAST!! because we could fit so many in it (but it was like driving a truck.... )and I sold it three years later for $375!!!

And then I bought a Mustang....with a manual transmission ($275 cheaper which was ALOT!!!) and learned how to drive it...I felt like Mary Tyler Moore (Mary Richards...:D :D )

My first car was a 1984 Ford Tempo 4 door 5 speed. I love it b/c it was my first car but it was a peice of crap! The horn stopped working and my dad rewired it and when it blew it vibrated the whole dash. My uncle was riding with me once and I blew it and he about jumped into the back seat.
It lasted until my Senior year of High School and I got it b/n my sophmore and Junior year.
My 2nd car was my mom's car. A 1987 4 door Honda Accord. I love that too. I kept that until my 2nd year in college.
My 3rd car was a 1993 Sunbird. My only stipulation when I got that one was I wanted a 2 door. I got that in 1996 and kept it until 2001. Loved it. My boss bought it and her daughter drives it and she loves it and calls it "Phil".
In 2001 I bought my first new car. A 2001 Olds Alero. It had 200 miles on it b/c they had to drive it from Indiana so I could drive it b/c the dealer I went to didn't have any at the time.
When I got that one my stipulations were auto locks and 4 doors! :)

Congrats! One of my friends used to have a silver Pontiac Grand Am. :)

I like the Scion TC, it looks so cool! I might be getting a Subaru Impreza as my first car though. We're either getting that or some type of SUV. I took that car for a test drive and it's totally awesome!

Val, we absolutely LOVE it. We've had it for three years and has been exceptionally reliable. It rides like a car, yet has the space of an SUV. We have a sunroof on ours. It is the first sunroof we have ever had and we get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

My first car was a 1968 Ford fairlane. It was light green with a dark green vinyl roof. Great car, but it had a weird electrical problem! I could turn on the parking lights put on the LEFT turn signal, and the radio would turn on with out the key being in the ignition. After that a 1981 Pontiac Phoenix maroon with a white vinyl top, a 1984 Chevy celebrity, a 1991 Olds Ciera, and my current ride, a teal blue 1994 Olds cutlass surpreme coupe with only 67,700 miles, affectionately called "Ole Blue"!

My very first car was a 1989 Chevy Cavalier 2 door. I loved that car! I had it for 3 years and every year I got in an accident with it!! None of them were my fault however, I just kept getting hit by stupid people!!;) The last one was a drunk driver who hit me head-on because he was driving on the wrong side of the road  That totaled the car :( with 118,000 miles on it. Then my mother gave me her old car, the ugliest car in the world...a teal Plymouth Sundance. i took that car to NYC with me and never had to worry about it getting stolen because who would want it??? That car had 142,000 miles on it when it kicked the bucket. Then I bought the car I still have, a 1997 Honda Civic 2 door red . I love Hondas since they last forever....this one has 121,000 miles on it and I plan on keeping it for at least another 5 years....

It's amazing to me that all these kids have cars!! I didn't get my first car until I was 21!!! And I had to buy it myself, no help from Mom and Dad!!

My first car was a '93 Beretta...I killed it! LOL, by the time I was done with it, the drivers side window didn't go all the way up, the drivers side door handle broke off, so I had to get in from the pass. side. My 2nd car was my graduation present, with MY name on the title...a 2000 Mustang. It had 6 miles on it. Now I am driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee...upgrading hopefully soon to a Pontiac Grand Prix GT!

I forgot about a couple of cars! In betwen the Fairlane and the Phoenix, I had a '76 Ford granada two door (brown), a '79 Granada four door (light green with a dark green vinyl top), and the absolute worst car I ever owned, a 1973 maverick (a Big YUCK!).

I feel really old! My first car was a 64' plymouth valiant that looked like this http://www.ornocar.com/1962to1965mopar/images/janne.jpg

You pulled up a lever and pushed a button to put it in drive...I moved up to a puke orange 1966 valiant for my second car...bought for $600 bucks from an old couple...it still had the sun shades in the back....woohoo....first gear wasn't synchronized....that was fun!

A family friend gave us his old car since it was just sitting in his garage. It runs perfectly and has low milage, considering its age. I'm too lazy to get my learners so my mom's driving it until I do the test. :p

It looks something like this. Not bad for a free car. :D

I'm also saving up for a used motorcycle. Gas and insurance is way cheaper. :p

My very first car was a Ford Mustang. Nobody told me I had to put oil in it or have the oil changed so my friend and I drove 35 miles to the beach. We were cruising down the strip (thinking we were sooooo cool) when we smelled something burning. We pulled over and the whole damn car overheated. There was smoke everywhere! It was very embarassing because EVERYBODY in the whole world (at least that's what it felt like) was staring at us and laughing. The moral of the story.....put oil in your car and have it changed every 3,000/5,000 miles!

Congrats!! Getting a new car is always exciting but especially when it's your FIRST one ever. That's a nice car too. My best friend has a '97 or '98 black Grand Am and I love driving it. Have lots of fun!

My first car was a '96 Chevy Cavalier. Two doors. It was this weird pink-purple color. It really stood out and everyone always knew it was me. Then I lightly tapped someone's butt on the beltway during rush hour traffic and that little teensy tap totaled my poor baby so last month, I had to buy my second car ever. I like it but it isn't the same! :)

Hey, I had that car! It was silver abnd I loved the look and feel of it. One word of caution to keep you eyes out for - it has TONS of blind spots. So when you merge into traffic or change lanes, etc, be EXTRA CAREFUL. I ended up trading it in because I did too much highway driving and never felt safe due to the blindspots. I wish you luck with it though.

My first car was a 1982 Buick - a TANK . It guzzeled fuel like nobody's business, but I loved that car. I cried the day I traded it in.

Congrats!! I'm a Pontiac owner too. :)

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE. It's my second car.

My first car was a 1984 '98 Oldsmobile.

Here's some images... not mine....my gal was grey (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4533161962&category=6407)

It was the family car passed down to me when I was 16. I loved that car. In 2001, I sold her. Didn't really want too. She had over 300,000 miles and was still running. But I was taking longer trips and wasn't sure if she could handle it.

So when I sold her I bought the Grand Am.

Just don't do what I did to mine this past Feb....

My first car was a 1966 3-cycle engine Saab - the ones that looked like an egg on wheels. Three-speed on-the-column transmission and you had to put oil in with the gas each time you filled up. Gawd I loved that car! Blew two engines in it and finally gave it to my brother who drove it to death many years later.

After that I drove my mom's old Pontiac Bonneville, the Volvos - both a sedan and a station wagon. The first car I bought myself was a bright green Datsun B10. Traded that one in on a Datsun 280ZX - LOVED that one, but due to some unfortunate life-circumstances that I won't get into here, it was repossessed. I didn't drive for a number of years until I finally got sober.

Then I bought a friend's 1986 Plymouth Champ that I drove to death and traded in on a new 1995 Ford Aspire. The Aspire just expired this past year and so ....

This past Christmas my big gift was a brand new Ferrari Red Chevy Aveo:

http://fp.images.autos.msn.com/merismus/YearGlance/y445418a.jpg

I really like this car! It had 41 miles on it when I drove it off the lot .... I'm a happy commuter these days! :)

Honda should give you a nice new car for free, as a gift....for being SUCH a loyal customer over the years. :p He he he!

I don't have my OWN first car YET, but my family considers all three of our cars the cars of the whole family. We all drive every one of them. The first car I drove was my brother's 2000 VW Passat. It was a leased car, so we no longer have it, but it was wonderful. It taught me how to drive. ;) He he he! That and my dad's 93 Ford van. Now, I drive the new cars too....the SUV, and my brother's car. I love them. I love driving. Funny I'm saying this, because before I learned to drive, I was SO scared, and didn't want my lisense. Now, I'm totally different. Whenever we go out as a family, I take the keys and run to the car before anyone else can, because I want to be the driver. He he he.

My first car was a '90 Grand Am and it was in the shop every other month. I had it for a year or so and then traded it in (as it was smoking and sputtering all the way to the dealership on a new (at the time) 2000 Grand Am GT. I've been in a wreck every six months since i've had this car and it's always on the front drivers side. I take that back, it's been at least a year since I've been in a wreck. Grand Ams are cursed. They look cool, but they are cursed. Congratulations and be careful ;)
