Free Internet?

Is there any truly FREE internet services now? I know there used to be but it doesn't look like their is now.... I'm meaning no stupid gimmicks like "free for the first 3 months" etc...actually free, all the time lol. Obviously it wouldn't be a very good internet service, slow I'm sure, but all I'm looking for is free or possibly extremely cheap if free is not available. ;)

The reason I'm asking this is I'm giving my friend my old computer and she doesn't have a lot of money to spare.

Not that I've heard of.

I know some people that live off of those free AOL cds that come in the mail. Once one CD expires, they register the next one. Not sure how reliable that is though.

Netzero is still free if you stay under 10 hours a month. I have it still as backup in case the DSL goes down.

Thanks for the info.....looks like it's only free with a couple of providers if you use 10 hrs per month otherwise you have to pay at least $10 per month.
