We gave Stewart a carrot for a treat, and I got pretty good pictures of him so I'd thought I would share.

Adorable, from a distance. Still have a slight fear of rodents since I had gebils as a child. They are not children's pets. I'm working on holding my friend's rat though, havn't been bitten, yet. Eventually I would like a rattie of my own, but not for a while.

Rats almost never bite. ;) I breed rats and have been doing so for many years. They lick me to death if anything LOL. In the whole 19 years I've had rats I've only once been bitten, and that was from a rescue. :)

Aww, he's very cute. :) My rats always enjoy their carrots. I give them carrots all the time.

Just like Cass said, rats rarely bite, especially if they were raised correctly and handled since birth- they most likely will never bite.

However, I did have two rats, Nugget & Sweet Pea, they were HORRIBLE biters. They would literally attack me and lunge at the cage whenever I got near the cage. They broke my skin many times (lost count) and I bled a lot- I have many scars from them. I do not know WHY they were like that, I worked so hard to gain their trust (so to say) and get them to stop, but they never did. :( I finally gave up and didn't bother- I kept gloves next to the cage. Other than those two, I have never been bitten by Oreo, Skittles, Peanut, Punkin, Fred, Oscar, Chloe, Daisy, Violette, Phoebe, Suzie (my RB rats), Eloise or Sophie.

I know they rarely bite. They are so cute, like yours, I plan to volunteer in the rodent room at our humane society for a while to help me get over my nervousness.

That is awesome! I hope you like it. Just know though, that most rescue rats do have a bit if baggage, and are more likely to be skittish. You never know what those poor babies have gone through. :(
