On the way to Andy's (before we headed to Toledo for the Mutt Show). Kia, the other driver, and I are okay.
All I can really remember is that the car in front of me was slowing down, and so I followed suit, I blinked, and realized that he was stopping much faster than I and so I slammed hard on the brakes and swerved to the left hoping to miss him. No such luck. The tires had no traction on the snow and ice and I slid the remaining car length into his bumper.
Fudge.
Because I had tried to swerve onto the left shoulder of the highway in an effort to miss him, I clipped him with my front passenger side bumper.
He pulled over and I did the same. Kia was in the back seat bouncing excitedly.
His name was David (which I later found out since we swapped info) and the first words out of his mouth were, "Is your dog okay?"
*laughs*
I said she was and we verfied that we were both okay. Took a look at each others vehicles. His bumper was cracked, my front end and hood are toast. Figures. (Took pictures but forgot the cable to download them...D'OH!)
Next thing I know he's back in his car and merging into traffic and I'm standing there thinking "Uh.... shouldn't we call the police?" Guess not.
So I merge into traffic and make it to Van Dyke Rd. where I call my insurance company to give them the news.
Called Andy too to let him know that we'd be taking the Aztec to Toledo.
This morning took the car to Glenn Buege's Body Shop, the mechanic scribbled some things down and sent me over to my insurance company. Buege is pre-approved with Citizen's Insurance so I don't need the hassle of an adjuster. The local branch faxed my info to Citizen's main headquarters. They called me with a claim #, then they called Buege. Buege called me and I can bring my car in tomorrow morning.
And my deductible is $250. *sigh of relief*
I'll post pictures tomorrow.
My dad was no help this morning though. We're supposed to get a nasty snow storm tonight and dad says, "Are you sure you want to take your car in now? Maybe you should wait till after the storm in case you get into another wreck." :p
Thanks for the vote of confidence dad!
