How do I know if the pic and story I sent in has potential to be selected for pet of the day?

Should I keep sending in new pics?

Should I wait a week then send in another?

What's the waiting list? How many will be selected before mine?

How do I know if my pic is just not good enough?

Is this driving you crazy, Ben? Actually, I think they have so many submissions, that is quite often takes some time to have your pet selected. I have actually never submitted pictures of mine. They are my Pet of the Day...everyday!!!! And thanks to your help, I can post pictures of them anytime!!! YEAH!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif
But patience....yours might get there yet.

Logan's right, Ben. I think Karen & Paul get a lot of submissions, and it takes a while to sort through them and plan. Also, they probably don't want to give away too much information on their process of choosing! Gotta keep a little bit of suspense and surprise in this, you know! They're building you up a bit so that you'll be really excited when your pet is chosen at last! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/wink.gif

When my cat, Saima, was featured in September, 1999, I remembered that I had submitted her nomination at least a month beforehand. I was like you in that I was getting a little worried that she might not be chosen (I had even sent an e-mail just like yours directly to K & P asking what's up). So just hang in there! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Ben: "its so great to see the animal that someone is talking about in the posts."

Forgive me if I take that as my cue to slip a photo of Saima in here, since I mentioned her in my last post!

Hi, Ben ~ My feeling is that this site has become so popular that Paul & Karen are probably inundated with nominees. My (since dearly departed) horse was chosen Pet of The Day for February 6, 2000. About a month ago I submitted one of my cats but have not heard anything; possibly my chances are diminished because I've already had a pet of mine honored, but . . . this is pure speculation on my part. I've noticed in reading other Pet/Cat/Dog Of The Day narratives that reference was made to the person's other pet that was previously honored, so I assume submission of a 2nd pet from the same household is not cause for disqualification. Well, good luck and I hope yours is chosen soon . . . it is a special feeling!

Hi, sorry I hadn't answered this sooner. You do not need to resubmit a pet - once we receive a nomination, the pet is a candidate until it is chosen! Having a different pet already honored does not disqualify you in any way, though we try not to honor "sublings" too close to each other - don't want to be responsible for any treat-overdoses!
