I posted my sister's 4 cats a few weeks ago. She lurks here and saw the post about cat condoms. And guess what I made some.

I know she only has 4 cats but I had to try it out first - the red one is my first try - well actually this pink one was my first try - I had a little trouble figuring out how to get the two ends of the tube to meet up and look right.

Pippi tried them out

but decided that that fabric with cats on it was not for her

Taggert was with me this morning when I dropped them at my sister's so Cubby was the only one brave enough to test them out. It was so funny because he sniffed at each one - walked through them and then laid down in the exact one we had picked the fabric for him. Strange huh???? How did he know that was suppose to be his?

My sister had bought a mat with catnip in it - I think from a catalog and so I used it as a pattern and made some more for her cats - I think I added more catnip then the one she bought because they went crazy for them

They both went a little crazy - I guess I added too much catnip

Julia told me about the fish beds and I went to JoAnn's (a fabric store) and they had the pattern on sale for 99 cents!!!! What a deal - I probably won't get around to make those for a couple of months because my grand daughter is coming to stay with us for about 6 weeks. But I am looking forward to trying out that pattern too!

hey, wasn't there a thread of directions for these beds a while back? I just did a search and couldn't find it. Can someone help me out a post a link to it.
Thanks in advance Katz

THOSE are adoreable!! We sure have some happy kitties here on PT now with all these new beds being made... No matter how many I make, mine still go back to the first one I made...It is old and faded and been washed to many times but they still love it. This, by the way, is Amy's favorite fabric print and she will not get a a kennel without her bed being made of this!!

Amy on her old wore out bed.

You did a great job. Looks like they are big hits too.

If you ever get a chance to make the fish bed let me know how it goes. I've had the pattern for over a year but don't have the sewing experience to tackle it alone.

Those beds and mats turned out great Diana (aka Clara:p )!!! Very good job!

Oh, on the mats, are they filled with quilt bat or polyfil? And do you just sprinkle catnip in with the padding?? Thanks! We were making shelter quilts awhile back that look similar.

thank you for the link. I may try a few of these beds for my friends kitties. Kelcee wouldn't use anything I wanted her too, so I'd have to trick her into it by letting the dogs in there first !!

Thanks for that link -

I haven't sewed in awhile, but they look pretty easy -

since we've recently made Teal'c some 'safe spots' up high away from the doggie, a few of these made for those spots might make them a bit more comfy for him. Right now I just have folded towels up there for him. The roll edges might make him a bit more secure -

I have tons of fabric in the house and some old pillows to use for stuffing, so they probably won't even cost me anything, and i can throw them in the wash periodically - what a terrific idea!

heck, maybe I'll make a BIG one for Fizz's dog crate! i'm sure you could make them in rectangles, too - shaped to fit a crate - like a baby pad with bumpers!

Thanks -

laura

PS - does anyone have any pictured of these 'fish beds' ? maybe i can figure out how to make them, too, if I could see them....
