*March OHIO Meeting -- DATES??*

This is what i've come up with for Amy, My dad, Nebo, Kiara and I for our trip to Ohio...

Tuesday.. March 22nd - Drive to OH
Wednesday.. March 23rd - OH
Thursday.. March 24th - OH
Friday.. March 25th - OH
Saturday.. March 26th - OH
Sunday.. March 27th - OH
Monday.. March 28th - OH
Tuesday.. March 29th - Drive home from OH

I've compiled a poll as to which dates we'd be there, and which would be the best for a meeting in Findlay.

Minus the driving dates (and the 23rd) - please, those of you who would intend on coming - vote for which fits best.
I DO have school starting on the 28th, so these are the days that work best for us to be in Ohio.

I'm hoping to atleast see a few people there, even if it isn't the regular big crowd.

I just wanted to add this idea I have...

I think it'd be a ton of fun!!

Whichever day we pick..
We could have someone take easter eggs and hide them around the park - the people and their dogs walk around picking up the eggs (each egg could have a milk bone in it or something) - and whoever gets the most eggs would get some sort of "grand prize" or something.

Amy and I think it'd be A LOT of fun for both dog and owner, and just something to ponder about. ;) I thought about it a while ago.

I think that I could probably make it to any of those dates. Just as long as I have 2 weeks notice (3 would be even better) so that I can get my request in at work. My boss is pretty good about giving me days off. Even if I can't I can always *cough, cough* call in sick ;)

I think an Easter Egg hunt sounds wonderful and festive! I'm in!

1) Easter weekend (I thought we had decided that that wouldn't work or was that just Ohio people - that might be a big family day for people)

Well, it doesn't look too good for me. :( :( :(

I can't take any time off work, and I couldn't even leave after work because I am 3 1/2 hours away from the park.
Saturday would work... but as some of you may know, my hubby is working is Las Vegas, and that being Easter weekend, he is flying home for the weekend. :( :(

The only thing that could work out would be if my hubby can not find a cheap ticket home for Easter weekend, then I could join you at the park on Saturday. I could not do Sunday, it's Easter, and I spend time with my family for the Holiday.

(unless I am really really bad and call in "sick" to work one day :eek: :p :D )

I'll keep an eye on this thread so I know when you all are getting together!!

I'm so excited!!! We'll finally get to meet Nebo and Kiara & everyone!
Any day is good for us, since we live here. I don't have my March schedule for work at the mall yet, but I'll swap days off if I have to! Friday's good, Sat.'s good, even Easter is good for us, but I know there may be alot of people doing family stuff then. Love the idea about the egg-hunt, we'll just have to watch to make sure the dogs don't eat the plastic eggs too!!!;)

My family doesn't really get together for Easter anymore. No big family plans on my side... however, I know the religious holidays are big on Andy's side, so it'll probably be just Kia and I coming down for the day if we can make it. :)

The only thing, since Amy and I will be traveling from a LONG distance away - we will not be able to supply all of the food, drinks, and so on. As well as reserve the pavillion. Would anyone like to help us with that? :)

I don't have a problem reserving the shelter...and it is looking like Saturday? Should I go ahead with that.

The 26th would be great for us - but almost any day would be. I too can help with food - or anything else. As far as reserving the shelter - I highly doubt if anyone will be using it that day.

Chances are no one will be using it, but if it's reserved, the park dist. does come through and cleans it up, puts out new trash bags, makes sure everything's ready to go. I'll take a good look at it my next trip out and see how it's faired over the winter. Last year they did some maintenance on that particular shelterhouse. (and boy,was I glad, 'cause that day I locked my keys in the car, and the maintenance guy helped me get the car unlocked!)

2) COPY (originals won't be returned) of the Dog's

. . (A Copy of the Office Visit Receipt is fine if the SHOTS
. . are noted & has Vet's Name on it).
. . DATE needs to be within ONE Year of now.

3) COPY of RABIES Vaccination Receipt ...
. . DATE within 1 or 3 years - depending on the vaccine used;
. . Most Rabies Receipts show an EXPIRATION date for the shot -
. . Rabies Vacc must be "current" (not expired).

4) All Dogs must also be "Licensed" by the City, Town, County,
or State where you LIVE. Fido should be *wearing* his/her License.

Cost of $10 / year registers 1, 2 or 3 Dogs.

A note about the "DATES" shown on your Receipts ~
Parks is "happy" if the Dates on the Vet & Rabies Receipts are

In other words; if Fido had his "Shots" anytime AFTER March 1 of 2004 -
he's Good to Go!

And a 3 year Rabies shot is good if it was given
AFTER MARCH 1, 2002.

Barney is getting his shots Friday, so I will be sending in my paperwork for the permit as soon as I have his proof of vacs. His previous owner failed to send us shot records, so we have to revaccinate him. :(

As it looks now, I should be able to bring both Leo and Barney - my sister is letting me borrow her Element. Two big dogs in a small Geo Prism doesn't quite work. :D

I can't really say if I can make it or not. I have to work until 330 that day so I wouldn't be able to get there much before 430. On a holiday weekend I can't/won't ask my weekend partner to come in early. And Phred, I can't/won't call in sick either!! :p
I will try my best to get there but with the daylight saving's time not changing yet, I am not sure how much daylight will be there. And I don't want anyone staying until I get there and traveling in the dark. We may have to settle for me calling a cell phone and passing it around like they did in Cali last year!!

I think we're staying at Anna's house which is in Piqua Ohio. From what I can figure (and I don't know Ohio so you Ohio people can give some imput) it looks like Dayton would be the closest to her house...then Columbus? I think Toledo may be closer to the park but I don't see an airport there...*edit* NM I see one now I was blind before I guess lol. I'm sure there's an airport in Cleveland too but that's not real close to either location.

Hey your dogs are small enough one could ride under your seat on the plane. ;) It's $75 each way though unfortunatly.

So, I could fly into Dayton and take a cab to Piqua. I found a LaQuinta that I could stay at there and then if I can hitch a ride to and from the meeting, I'd be set. A cab back to the airport on Sunday, and it CAN be done! :D

My only problem is the flight. The only ones I've found leave early Friday, and that could be a problem with for my boss. :( I doubt I could leave early, since we'll be crazy busy by then. :(

Yeah, unfortunately it's Easter. I need to be back before noonish. :(

The only flights I can find into Dayton arrive after midnight. Everything else is earlier in the day. That flight leaves here at 8:57.

Okay, I have a flight on hold and I'm getting ready to pay for it! I'm even going to have a short layover in St Louis (I'm getting adventurous, lol). I depart DFW @ 1 pm (hopefully my boss won't freak out when I tell her!) and will arrive in Dayton at 5:30. I don't want anyone driving an hour and a half to pick me up! :o Kay, you're so sweet to offer, but I can't ask your Dad to drive that far and back to get me. I'll just get some pepper spray and take a cab to the LaQuinta in Piqua. I'm nearly 40 years old after all. But - I'll still take a lift to the park! :)

Covered patio type thing. :D Just a slab of concrete with picnic tables, 2 walls and a roof. :D One of the walls has a sliding barn like door.

There are two grills for cooking right in front of the shelter. Out-house style bathrooms just a short walk away. Pop machines & phone over by the ranger house, and a paved trail that goes thru the park, too. Last week two people came past the dogpark leading llamas:eek: with paks and two dogs! We see horseback riders too.
It would almost be better if it does stay frozen, but when it thaws, there is a lot of mud inside the entrance. It's not too bad once you get past the time-out cage into the field, but I strongly suggest wearing old clothes & boots - and bring a couple old towels for those muddy paws before you load 'em up!

Nebo is a chicken with people as well...he's usually afraid of strangers though sometimes he's fine offleash like in a dog park. He will take treat bribes too. ;) He is especially afraid of men for no particular reason. So just don't feel bad if Nebo won't come to you...it's just Nebo, he's a snob. And if you try to hug him or something and he growls, don't worry about that either...that's just Nebo... :rolleyes: He is an affectionate dog but it's all on his own terms lol.

This is the first time most of you will meet Sherman. Please keep in mind he has juvenile cataracts and can't see anything in front of his face, so he will duck and back off if you reach overhand towards him. If you hold your hand low, palm up, he will approach you. He also growls at other dogs alot if they are near his head - he's not aggressive, just hates having anyone in his face. (he is also easily bribed with treats).

I'm really excited! I can't believe so many people are coming from so far away!!!

My mom won't let me take them to the vet/she won't take them to the vet, and I have been arguing with her trying to get the dogs their Rabies shot that they are overdue for. Ugh. I don't know what's gonna happen now. She doesn't want me to take the girls along with me in a car that's a 2 1/2 hrs drive..

I'll try everything my best to get that done. I know it is NEXT Saturday, and I still need to send in my $10 along with the form & proof of their rabies/distemper shots.. :o

I've only flown once, with my mom, and it was to Boise, ID lol...short flight from SLC, UT. And that was many years ago. I hope we both will have good flight experiences!

Hi guys. Nebo and I are both fine. I think the flight stressed me out more than him...I about had a panic attack when I had to leave him. :o He seemed fine when they brought him out, he was just laying down quietly. No messes or anything and his PB filled kong was cleaned out so I think he kept himself busy. I think he was the only dog on the flight because when we asked the guy if he was going to get the pets he was like "The husky?"

He's enjoying himself here, espcially with his girlfiend ;) Kiara.

yesterday on my way to Pennsylvania for a meeting.

As I was driving down I-79, my car went clunkity - clunkity - clunk. As I pulled over with white smoke billowing out from under my hood and saw the trail of oil the last 30 feet my car traveled, I knew I was in trouble. After a tow to the nearest town of Meadville - it was determined that my car was beyond hope and a decision was made to put it out of it's misery and send it to the Battery Bridge. A rod blew and put a hole in my engine and made it impossible for me to justify keeping it in pain any longer. My 96 Geo Prism is now at the bridge waiting for me - free of pain and running like the new car it once was.

Well - being a lover of all things bright and mechanical, I adopted a new shiny Kia Sportage to add to my family. Although I will miss my little Prism, I knew there was just too much space in my driveway to not fill it with a new family member.

I will be picking up my new sporty tonight, so I will still be attending the get together this weekend. Since my new family member will be larger and younger, I will no longer have any excuses not to attend more Pettalk family get togethers.

There is not really a point to my diatribe, just wanted to let everyone know that I will be arriving around 12-1 in a metallic green Kia Sportage with 2 large black dogs in tow.

Although it's the same exact as our older one, it's brand new!

Our warrenty was almost up and or other had a dent in the side from some idiot. Good thing about getting white trucks.. the dealerships have no problem trading them back in, all of the construction workers and such are looking for used white trucks so they have no problem getting rid of them.

Bon is SO cute. I love that big boy. Kiara is a bit scared of him, and he and Nebo try to show eachother who's boss.. but nothing that needs more than a quick "knock it off"

Of course Roxey and Huney are as adorable as always. That Huney girl sure has come around. Last time she barely came up to everyone, this time she walks right up when you call her and she even let me hold her. :D


My dad won't be with us on Saturday - He left to go to his Sister's in Ann Arbor, MI. We all figured he'd have a lot more fun up there and it wouldn't be too exciting for him to stay here with a bunch of girls and their dogs.


Anyways, i'll stop blabbing now.. we're heading off to the store soon.

and I just started a post about someplace you out of towners might like to stop at before you go home. It's the city park where a local artist does sand sculpture for Easter. It is less than 4 miles from the dogpark and mapquest says only takes 8 minutes. It really is worth seeing.... Tori and I are home!

We had a great time. Always fun getting together with Pet Talkers. All the pictures are great and I love looking at them. I haven't got mine on my computer yet and I'm not for sure if I'll get to it tonite. Tori slept like a baby all the way home. I even stopped at a rest area on the way home and when I got out she only raised her head for a sec and quickly went back to sleep. I think the past two days have finally wore her out...lol.

Special thanks to Kay and Amy for putting on the Easter Egg Hunt. That was a great idea and it was lots of fun!

P.S. Mark....their is only a tiny bit of your soup left. Alden ate two huge bowlfuls of it.
