Our Rotary Club had a guest speaker from Guide Dogs of America this week.

And I got to meet "Bruce" - a one year old yellow lab who is a puppy in training.

Bruce had on his working jacket - and they request that you not approach Bruce while he is working.

However, once that jacket is removed - Bruce is available for treats and petting.

I was all over that pup - Bruce is a leaner..........you should have seen my black pants suit! I was covered with his glorious fur.

Bruce will continue as a puppy in training for another 8 months and then he will go into a separate 4 to 6 month program to be trained to be a guide dog for the blind.

It is a wonderful program.

Oh what a rewarding thing that would be to do! One time I was riding the greyhound back home from Colorado Springs and there was a girl on the bus training a black lab to be a guide dog. It was really fun watching her. A lot of people went to pet the dog and she told them to please not pet him that he was in training.
