This was posted on one of the cat rescue sites, Im sure some of you have seen it and know the story, but I thought I would post it anyways, as I have followed the story the whole time............

I have a friend that is serving his country in Iraq, his platoon and his
brothers platoon saved a baby kitten from a garbage pile, and now I'm
trying to help them get the kitty back here to safety. If anyone has
connections with civilian contractors in the Baghdad area that could
help transport this baby to Kuwait where she will receive her
vaccinations and be flown to Oregon where I will take care of her until
he's released from the military, myself and 2 platoons would be forever
grateful. This is just a baby and if they leave her there, she will be
killed within days. PLEASE I'M BEGGING for someone to help, out travel
plans fell through and we have exhausted all other travel resources that
we know of over there, but we have help if we can get her to Kuwait.
This has to be done within the next 2 days.

I'm having a brain fart...but Animal Planet has done a piece on a puppy named "Ratchet" (what a coincidence) that was flown to the U.S from Iraq. I wish I could recall the group that was involved in getting the pup here. Not the H.S.U.S...but close. I'll try to recall A.S.A.P, but as CCL said, that's very short notice for an international rescue.

I'm pretty sure it was WSPA that got the soldier's found pup out of Iraq, and to his family in the U.S. The awful part is the short notice. :(

Here is the responce from them again, it is so great the money has been raised.

I just heard from Bonnie with Military Mascots and almost all the money has been raised to get Kitty back from Iraq here to the Northwest where I will be fostering her until her soldier arrives to pick her up from me. The only thing left is for someone to take Kitty for her vaccinations and then take her from Baghdad to Kuwait for her flight. If you know ANYONE in the Baghdad area that is a civilian contractor please forward this to them so we can save kitty.
